Lim Young Woong, Gocheok Dome heated by 'I'm Hero'... 54,000 fans ecstatic

Singer Lim Young Woong held the 'I'm Hero' concert at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on January 17. The venue was filled with audience members even in the floor seats. The crowd consisted of middle-aged people in their 50s and 60s and seniors in their 70s and 80s, showing enthusiasm similar to that of teenage fan clubs chasing idol groups in front of Lim Young Woong. The concert lasted about three hours, and while waiting for the encore, the in-house cameras zoomed in on fans' sketchbook messages. Each time, the audience responded with gasps and applause.

This concert was part of the 'Lim Young Woong I'm Hero Tour' Seoul performance held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul, from January 16 to 18. It was an extension of the nationwide tour that began in the second half of last year, attracting about 54,000 spectators over three days. Lim Young Woong's concert was the second since the new year and showed a more developed performance compared to last year.

Especially notable was the 166-meter large screen. Designed in a curved ᄃ-shape, Lim Young Woong's face was clearly visible from anywhere on the stage. Early in the concert, when a large sailing ship appeared cutting through the center of the screen, Lim Young Woong, wearing a sparkling jacket, soared up from below the stage, raising the audience's excitement.

Lim Young Woong's vocal ability received the highest praise among fans. As the winner of 'Mr. Trot,' he was originally flawless, but this concert showed an upgraded version of himself. His musical spectrum extended beyond trot to include ballads, jazz, dance, folk, rock, rap, and electronic dance music (EDM). 'London Boy' was performed in a rock style, 'Eolchigu' in dance, 'Goodbye to Us' as trot, and 'Sent a Reply' in rap and hip-hop genres.

Songs performed early in the concert such as 'Love Letter,' 'Our Blues,' and 'Trust Only Me Now' were rearranged into jazz, captivating the audience's ears. Lim Young Woong did not just do whatever he wanted but made efforts to match what the audience desired. The songs that received the hottest reactions from fans were 'Father' and 'Story of a 60-Year-Old Couple.' These songs stirred the audience's emotions with confessional lyrics and heartfelt melodies. Lim Young Woong also showed moments of being emotionally moved and tearing up that day.

During the 'Hero Singing Contest,' where songs were chosen based on fans' requests, his passion for singing and service spirit toward fans stood out. He performed various genres, including Na Hoon-a's 'Man,' Radi's 'Mom,' Cho Yong-pil's 'Q,' and Buzz's 'My Love,' delivering stage performances that exceeded audience expectations. His stage manners were very similar to Na Hoon-a's. To save time, Lim Young Woong changed clothes directly on stage, moved around the stage exchanging eye contact with fans, and continued witty talk.

Toward the end of the concert, the EDM-style songs 'HOME' and 'HERO' made even the middle-aged and older audience stand up. The audience danced along to Lim Young Woong's shout of "Scream!" Lim Young Woong performed a total of 26 songs including the encore and bowed to say goodbye. He said, "Every time I take the stage, I think about why I have to sing and how I should live, and I feel grateful. Always stay healthy and happy."
