Seventeen Dokyeom·Seungkwan 'Blue'... Soaring to No. 1 on YouTube Trending

The group Seventeen (SEVENTEEN) members Dokyeom and Seungkwan's new song "Blue" has topped the music charts. According to HYBE Music Group label Pledis Entertainment on the 19th, "Blue" ranked first on the Korean YouTube "Trending Music" chart at 9 p.m. on the 18th. The song entered the same chart at 27th place on the 13th, rose to 2nd place on the 15th, and finally reached the top spot.

The popularity of "Blue" is analyzed to be influenced by the vocal content such as music broadcasts and vocal challenges featuring Dokyeom and Seungkwan that went viral online. The two performed the stage for "Blue" starting with Mnet's "M Countdown" on the 15th, followed by KBS2's "Music Bank" and "The Seasons - 10CM's Ssedamssedam" on the 16th, MBC's "Show! Music Core" on the 17th, and SBS's "Inkigayo" on the 18th. They attracted K-pop fans' attention with their outstanding vocal skills and emotion. Especially on "The Seasons - 10CM's Ssedamssedam," they showcased diverse charms by premiering the stage for the included track "Guilty Pleasure."

The included tracks "Rockstar (DK Solo)" ranked 28th, and "Guilty Pleasure" ranked 30th, making it onto the charts. Famous artists such as Davichi, Lee Mujin, Younha, RIIZE Sohee, and Gummy participated in the vocal challenge, receiving positive responses. Various genre artists including Ha Hyunsang, 10CM, Daybreak, WJSN's Yeonjun, SOLE, George, and Mamamoo Solar continue the challenge by reinterpreting "Blue" in their own styles.

The duet challenge, which allows harmonizing with Dokyeom and Seungkwan, is also spreading rapidly. As a result, "Blue" ranked first on Instagram's "Rising Audio" chart on the 17th. Dokyeom and Seungkwan plan to release an epilogue version music video for "Blue" on the 19th. The teaser released the day before heightened anticipation for the full video by featuring the snowy fields of Hokkaido, Japan, along with the two members' heartfelt emotional acting.

Additionally, the cinema version music video starring actors Lee Yumi and Noh Sanghyun has charted on the Korean YouTube "Weekly Popular Music Videos" chart and continues to receive steady love. The new release can also be experienced with an analog feel. According to Pledis Entertainment, the LP (vinyl) of "Soya-gok" is scheduled to be released on March 16. This album achieved an unusual feat for a K-pop unit album by selling over 520,000 copies on the day of release, becoming a half-million seller, and topped the "Worldwide iTunes Album" chart.

These achievements are largely thanks to the musical capabilities of Dokyeom and Seungkwan and the support of their fans. "Blue" is a pure ballad genre song and is regarded as a meaningful accomplishment in the K-pop scene, which is centered on intense performances. Dokyeom and Seungkwan plan to continue communicating with fans through various activities in the future.
