
SM Entertainment has filed lawsuits against malicious post authors targeting its affiliated artists. On the 20th, SM stated, "We have recently confirmed that some users using Twitter (X) accounts have been continuously posting malicious content such as spreading false information, defamation, sexual harassment, personal attacks, insults, and invasion of privacy against our affiliated artists." This has caused mental harm to the artists, and SM is taking strict measures by proceeding with criminal lawsuits to protect the rights and interests of its artists.
Through reports received at the reporting center 'KWANGYA 119,' which operates to protect artists, and through its own monitoring, SM disclosed 11 accounts of users who continuously posted malicious posts related to aespa, RIIZE, and NCT WISH. SM stated, "We are reviewing malicious posts uploaded on various SNS platforms related to other artists and preparing criminal lawsuits together, and we will continue to expand the scope of those subject to lawsuits."
SM also revealed, "We have secured a large amount of evidence regarding acts of creating and spreading malicious rumors and false information related to our affiliated artists on various platforms such as DC Inside, Naver, Daum Cafe, Nate Pann, Instiz, The Qoo, MLB Park, FM Korea, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube; posting mocking or sexually vulgar content; and producing or distributing distorted content such as deepfakes." SM plans to continue legal actions through sequential criminal lawsuits and civil claims against these acts.
SM Entertainment has announced strong legal responses to protect the rights and interests of its affiliated artists and emphasized that it will continue efforts to protect artists through communication with fans. These measures are evaluated as essential steps to reduce the mental harm to artists and to foster a healthy fan culture. SM will continue to make various efforts to protect both artists and fans in the future.
