Hwasa, Kim Wan-sun, Ahn Shin-ae, and others participate... 'Project Y' OST released

The soundtrack album for the movie 'Project Y' was officially released on the 21st at 6 PM through various online music platforms. This album musically embodies the emotions and rhythms of the crime entertaining movie 'Project Y' (directed by Lee Hwan).

The music director is producer GRAY. From the script stage, GRAY musically interpreted the characters' emotional lines, designing the vocal tracks to function as emotional devices that guide the flow of the story. The OST features five diverse female vocalists: HWASA, Kim Wan-sun, An Shin-ae, DeVita, and Hoody, who richly and deeply express the emotional lines within the film.

The opening track, HWASA's "FOOL FOR YOU," dominates the mood of the work with deep and delicate vocals layered over 70s soul and jazz sounds, fitting the slow-motion scenes of the protagonists passing through a tunnel. Kim Wan-sun's "Wave" represents the feelings of characters swaying and drifting in the city nightscape. The sound, a modern reinterpretation of psychedelic sensibilities, combined with Kim Wan-sun's sharp yet lingering voice, leaves a heavy afterimage.

DeVita's "THE CABARET" and "WHISPERS IN THE NIGHT" dreamily depict the bitter truth hidden behind glamour, capturing the subtle tension and precarious atmosphere of those living behind masks. Hoody's "ELECTRIC LIGHTS" is a city pop track that floats through the city's night, with transparent vocals blending with neon lights to subtly convey freedom and the emptiness behind it. An Shin-ae's "MAN IN THE SKY" completes the climax with soulful singing that condenses and explodes the emotions accumulated earlier, decorating the film's finale.

The score tracks included in the album finely adjust the characters' psychological changes, the city's rhythm, and the temperature between scenes, building an emotional narrative through music where dialogue cannot reach. Even after the ending, the music lingers like an afterglow, uniquely completing the world within the film.

The movie depicts the story of protagonists stealing gold bars in the heart of Seoul to seize their last chance in life. On the three-dimensional sound spectrum composed by GRAY, a multi-layered genre variation crossing 70s soul, jazz R&B, psychedelic, and city pop follows the romance, deficiency, and precarious tension hidden behind the cold metallic city. This OST supports the overall emotion of the film beyond simple background music.

Meanwhile, 'Project Y' was officially invited to the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival and won the Best Film Award at the London Asian Film Festival.
