"They won't listen to their kids, but they listen to Lim Young-woong"... The Plea for 'Health Checkups' That Rang Through the Concert Hall

Singer Lim Young-woong has once again become the center of attention for the extraordinary care he showed for his fans' health during his recent concert in Seoul. Going beyond simple greetings, he repeatedly asked, "Have you had your health checkups?" fully demonstrating his role as a "Health Evangelist."

Over the last weekend, a total of 54,000 spectators gathered at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul for Lim Young-woong's four-day concert. True to his signature greeting "Gun-Haeng" (Be Healthy and Happy), Lim prioritized his fans' health above all else during this performance.

According to a report by Channel A's 'News TOP 10', Lim directly asked the audience during the show, "Did you get a health checkup?" This is because health is the most critical topic for his concert attendees, many of whom are middle-aged or older.

There is a special backstory to this "plea for health checkups." It is known that Lim actively accepted requests from the children of his fans, who said, "Our parents won't listen when we tell them to get checkups, but they might listen if Lim Young-woong says it, so please tell them for us." The joke that "Parents don't listen to their children, but they listen to Lim Young-woong" has indeed become a reality.

His sincere plea has actually created remarkable miracles. In 2023, a story was revealed about a fan who got a checkup after listening to Lim, discovered cancer early, received surgery, and recovered their health. That fan later revisited the concert hall to express their gratitude, saying, "I lived thanks to Lim Young-woong." Since that incident, Lim has made emphasizing health checkups a mandatory routine at every beginning-of-the-year concert.

Lim Young-woong's exceptional "love for fans" did not stop at caring for their health. He showed meticulous consideration by arranging a warm resting space outside the venue for elderly fans waiting in the cold weather, serving adlay tea and Ssanghwa-cha (traditional herbal tea), and gifting seat cushions to all 53,000+ audience members.

Meanwhile, at this concert, Lim deeply connected with the audience through his human charm, singing songs requested by fans on the spot to karaoke backing tracks, and shedding tears while singing the song "Mom" thinking of his own mother in the audience. His performance of naturally changing costumes on stage was reminiscent of the legendary singer Na Hoon-a, reaffirming his standing as the next-generation "National Singer."

Lim Young-woong plans to continue the heat of the Seoul performance by holding a concert in Busan next month to meet with his fans.
