Singer Hwang Young Woong will appear in public for the first time in about three years. On the 22nd, the agency Golden Voice announced through the official fan cafe that Hwang Young Woong will perform at the '54th Gangjin Celadon Festival - Sound of Celadon Concert' held on February 28. The agency asked fans to "give strong support as this is the singer's first event."
In addition to Hwang Young Woong, singers Son Bin Ah, Kim Yong Bin, and Geum Jandi will participate as invited artists at this event. Through the fan cafe, Hwang Young Woong shared feelings about the comeback, saying, "I felt it couldn't be delayed any longer, so after consulting with the production team, I wanted to let you know." He expressed reflection on his past, stating, "I will not make excuses as it was during my childhood," and sincerely apologized.
Hwang Young Woong said, "I was scared and afraid to face the public, but I desperately wanted to sing," and appealed, "Please give me a chance to reflect on the past and live as a better person." He was spotlighted as a top contender on the 2023 MBN variety show 'Burning Trotman,' but voluntarily withdrew amid controversies including school violence, assault records, and dating violence.
During the 'Burning Trotman' competition, controversy arose over Hwang Young Woong's assault record. In 2016, he was fined 500,000 won by summary indictment from the prosecution. At that time, the agency stated, "If the parties involved agree, he definitely wants to contact them personally to apologize," and Hwang Young Woong said, "If those friends allow it, I want to sincerely apologize as soon as possible."
This is Hwang Young Woong's first participation in a general local festival rather than a personal concert since withdrawing from 'Burning Trotman' in 2023. His comeback is attracting attention from fans and the public, and expectations for his future activities are growing.
