BTS 'Arirang' pre-orders reach 4.06 million copies... far surpassing previous record

BTS's new album pre-order volume surpassed 4 million copies in just one week. According to the album distributor YG Plus, BTS's fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" recorded 4.06 million pre-orders as of the 22nd. This achievement was made within a week since the pre-order sales began on the 16th.

This result exceeds the record of BTS's best-selling cumulative album, the fourth full-length album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7." "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" recorded 3.42 million pre-orders within a week during its 2020 pre-sale and later surpassed 5 million copies. "ARIRANG" is increasing its pre-order volume at a faster pace than that.

With about two months remaining until the release of "ARIRANG," attention is focused on what records will be set by the end of the pre-sale period. Interest in BTS's comeback is reflected in various indicators. On the fan platform Weverse, the number of membership subscribers tripled after the announcement of the new album release and world tour.

On the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify, the number of pre-saves exceeded 1 million within two days of the pre-save launch and surpassed 2 million on the fourth day. There is growing attention on the possibility of exceeding Taylor Swift's all-time highest pre-save record of approximately 6 million, set with her twelfth full-length album "The Life of a Showgirl."

"ARIRANG" is BTS's first full-group album in about 3 years and 9 months and will be released on March 20 at 1 PM. This album is expected to address universal emotions such as the team's identity, longing, and deep love.

Along with the album release, BTS will embark on a world tour. The tour will take place in a total of 34 cities with 81 shows, marking the highest number of shows in K-pop tour history. The opening concert in Goyang sold out perfectly.

The fan club pre-sale held on the 22nd sold out all seats for all three rounds. Due to high demand, additional shows were confirmed for both Tampa and Stanford in the United States. BTS is the second artist, after Coldplay, to hold a solo concert at Stanford Stadium.

This album and world tour are expected to further expand BTS's global fan base. The high interest and participation of fans will remain a testament to BTS's continued popularity.
