Hwang Young Woong, Sold-out concert in Busan... "Oppa is back"

Singer Hwang Young Woong has recently continued to connect with fans through solo concerts. On January 24 and 25, Hwang Young Woong held a solo concert titled "Oppa is Back!" at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Haeundae-gu, Busan. The tickets sold out immediately upon release, proving his popularity. In this performance, Hwang Young Woong shared a deep connection with the audience through stable yet powerful vocals and a sincere stage presence.

Hwang Young Woong has recently shown a restrained approach due to school violence and various controversies. He was originally scheduled to perform at the 54th Gangjin Celadon Festival hosted by MBC on February 28, but after news of his appearance spread, complaints followed. Consequently, the organizers decided to reconsider his participation. This situation arose shortly after discussions about his possible appearance at a local festival, eliciting contrasting reactions.

In 2022, Hwang Young Woong appeared on the MBN variety show "Burning Trotman," where he was considered a strong contender for the championship. However, as multiple allegations related to his past surfaced, he voluntarily withdrew from the program. These allegations included dating violence against an ex-girlfriend, school violence, assault convictions, and false career claims. His agency provided a clear explanation regarding these allegations. Concerning the false career claims about factory work, they confirmed through various evidence that Hwang Young Woong had worked as a temporary and contract employee at several companies.

The agency explained, "The broadcast did not specify details and only mentioned that he worked in factory production for over six years, which caused misunderstandings." They also emphasized that all claims related to school violence, dating violence, and discrimination against disabled people were "groundless." However, Hwang Young Woong expressed regret and reflection regarding the past school violence allegations. He stated, "I will not excuse it as something from my childhood. I will reflect on the past, clear up misunderstandings, and sincerely apologize. I earnestly ask for forgiveness from those who were hurt because of me."

Since then, Hwang Young Woong has established a one-person agency and continued his activities through solo concerts. He is conducting the "Oppa is Back" tour in major cities such as Seoul, Daegu, Ulsan, Gwangju, and Changwon, strengthening communication with fans. These activities are seen as a process of overcoming past controversies and committing to a new beginning.

Hwang Young Woong's solo concerts demonstrate that he remains a beloved artist to the public. Audiences felt sincerity and passion on his stage and were deeply engaged in the performance. Hwang Young Woong plans to continue these activities and deepen his relationship with fans.
