Global interest in the new release by the group BTS is increasing. BTS's fifth studio album, "ARIRANG," surpassed 3 million pre-saves on the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify on February 4. The new release reached 1 million pre-saves within two days of starting on Spotify and exceeded 2 million by the fourth day. The number of pre-saves continues to rise. Attention is focused on whether BTS's new release will surpass Taylor Swift's twelfth studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," which holds the record for the most pre-saves on Spotify with about 6 million.
"ARIRANG" ranked first for two consecutive weeks on January 21 and 28 on Spotify's "Countdown Charts Global." This chart aggregates pre-save numbers for albums and singles before their release and serves as an important indicator to gauge global music fans' expectations.
Interest in the new release is evident across various metrics. After the announcement of the new release and world tour on the global superfan platform Weverse, membership subscriptions increased approximately threefold. The title track "Yet To Come" from BTS's anthology album "Proof" and the track "Love Maze" from the third studio album "LOVE YOURSELF 轉 'Tear'" surpassed 105 million cumulative streams as of December last year. As a result, they received "Platinum" and "Gold" certifications in the streaming category from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. A movement to revisit BTS's messages is spreading.
BTS's new release "ARIRANG" will be released on March 20 at 1 PM. This album contains a total of 14 tracks dealing with universal emotions such as the team's identity, longing, and deep love. It is expected to share empathy with music fans worldwide through music that captures the "current BTS."
After the release, BTS will hold "BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE|ARIRANG" at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21. This performance is the first time BTS will hold a solo concert, marking another milestone in Korean cultural history. Notably, this moment will be broadcast live via Netflix to over 190 countries and regions. Various activities related to BTS's new release are expected to further strengthen their influence in the global music market.
