Kim Seon-ho denies family corporation tax evasion allegations, stating "Compliance with legal procedures"

Actor Kim Seon-ho has been embroiled in allegations of tax evasion through a corporation involving his family. On the 1st, his agency Fantagio issued an official statement completely denying the allegations. Fantagio stated, "Kim Seon-ho is currently active under an exclusive contract with Fantagio and in his personal name, and he faithfully complies with all legal and tax procedures in his contractual relationship and overall activities." They added, "There are no issues whatsoever related to Kim Seon-ho's contract and activities with Fantagio."

The corporation in question was established for theater production and related activities, and it was explained that it was not intended for deliberate tax reduction or evasion. Fantagio further stated, "Actual business activities have not been conducted for about a year, and the closure process is currently underway in accordance with relevant laws and procedures."

According to Sports Kyunghyang, Kim Seon-ho established and operated a corporation under the name of a performance planning company at his residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in January 2024. The corporation listed advertising agency services and real estate sales and leasing as its business purposes but was not registered as a cultural and artistic planning business. Kim Seon-ho's parents were registered as inside directors and auditors of the corporation, and there are allegations that Kim Seon-ho paid them salaries ranging from several million to tens of millions of won.

There were also claims that living expenses and personal costs were paid using the corporate card, leading to criticism that the corporation was a paper company with no substantial business operations. The timing of the corporation's establishment coincided with when Kim Seon-ho was negotiating contract renewal with his former agency, which fueled suspicions. Kim Seon-ho transferred to Fantagio in 2025, and reports indicated he was offered a contract worth over 2 billion won during this process.

Kim Seon-ho debuted in 2009 with the play "New Boeing Boeing" and became known to the public through dramas such as "Start-Up" and "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha." He halted activities following a personal controversy in 2021 but made a comeback in 2023 with the film "Gentleman," and recently gained renewed attention as the Netflix series "Does This Love Translate?" ranked number one globally in non-English-speaking regions.

This controversy has drawn more attention as it coincides with tax evasion allegations against fellow agency actor Cha Eun-woo. Cha Eun-woo owns a corporation with his mother as the representative, and the National Tax Service is reported to have judged that the corporation operates as a paper company without substantial business activities. However, no final conclusion has been reached regarding this matter.

Fantagio, Kim Seon-ho's agency, is currently facing difficulties due to consecutive tax evasion allegations. Both Kim Seon-ho's one-person agency and Cha Eun-woo's corporation are involved in tax-related suspicions, which may negatively impact Fantagio's image. Fantagio stated that the situation is "currently under review," and attention is focused on how the situation will unfold.
