Actor Kim Seung-soo revealed the story of a serious health crisis caused by acute shingles. On the February 5th broadcast of KBS 2TV variety show "Problematic Men in the Rooftop Room," Kim Seung-soo stated, "I once came close to death due to acute shingles." He explained that after returning from a business trip to China and pushing through a demanding schedule, he became extremely fatigued.
Kim Seung-soo said, "After arriving in Korea, I relaxed and had a drink before going to sleep," adding, "The next morning, I woke up with pimples on my face. At first, I thought it was just because I was tired." However, he recalled, "Within 4 to 5 hours, it started spreading across my face," realizing the seriousness of the situation. Following advice from a pharmacist, he went to the hospital and was diagnosed with acute shingles.
Kim Seung-soo recalled the intense pain, saying, "Half of my face was covered with blisters. It felt like someone was scratching my face with a fork." He received a warning from the doctor that "if the shingles virus reaches the brain, it can cause hemiplegia, and if it invades the eyes, it can lead to blindness." The doctor diagnosed that the virus had apparently penetrated his cornea.
Due to this, Kim Seung-soo spent 15 days bedridden, reflecting on his life. He said, "After experiencing the brink of death, my attitude toward life changed," noting a positive transformation.
During the broadcast, Kim Seung-soo also mentioned his thoughts on marriage. He said, "I heard that people around me don't set me up on blind dates," and added, "Honestly, I felt betrayed when I heard about others' marriage news." He emphasized that it's not that he can't meet women, but that he chooses not to.
Kim Seung-soo also talked about his past dating experiences. He said, "My last relationship was 16 years ago, in 2010," and shared, "I even reserved three seats at the movie theater because I was worried my girlfriend might feel uncomfortable, and I did manual labor to buy a luxury watch she wanted during college."
He revealed his dream for his wedding as well. Kim Seung-soo said, "The wedding I'm planning is a zero-cost wedding. There's a service provided by each district office," adding, "I don't want to burden anyone." He also mentioned that after marriage, he plans to give one of his two houses to his wife.
Kim Seung-soo admitted that his overconfidence in managing his health led to this experience. He said, "I was complacent about my health and ended up having a big experience," showing his determination to take better care of his health going forward.
He also shared his past intense dieting experience. Kim Seung-soo said, "Because of a character, I completely cut out carbohydrates for 10 months," adding, "At that time, my average weight was 77kg, but it dropped to 68kg."
Through the broadcast, Kim Seung-soo shared sincere stories about his health, marriage, and life, resonating with many viewers.
