Jonathan expressed his affection for the Korean History Proficiency Test, saying, "I take the test every time, and it's always so enjoyable and great." He stated, "As a human being, I am still very inexperienced and have many shortcomings, but I am grateful that in a world full of amazing and wonderful people, there is a way for me to feel proud and fulfilled, even if just for a moment." He added, "It made me think that I should create more moments like this."

Jonathan is originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and settled in South Korea with his family as a refugee. He has his family home in Gwangju Metropolitan City and became known to the public after appearing in the 2013 KBS documentary "Human Theater" in the episode "The Congo Prince Family."
