Singer Lee Chan-won donated 1 million won to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation. On the 9th, the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation announced that the prize money from the Good Star King Competition was donated in the name of Lee Chan-won. This donation will be used for medical treatment expenses for children suffering from pediatric cancer, leukemia, and rare incurable diseases.
The donation was raised as Lee Chan-won won the prize money in the King Competition with the support of fans on the Good Star platform. The Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation's medical treatment support program targets children diagnosed with pediatric cancer and rare incurable diseases, providing financial assistance for surgery, hospitalization, medication, transplantation, and the purchase of assistive devices throughout the treatment process. This program offers practical help to families facing the risk of discontinuing treatment due to financial difficulties.
Including this prize money, the total cumulative donation Lee Chan-won has delivered through Good Star amounts to 75.01 million won. The foundation explained that the donated funds have been allocated based on priority, considering the condition of the patients and their family circumstances, contributing to bridging the financial gap during long-term treatment.
Hong Seung-yoon, director of the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, said, "We are grateful for the continuous interest and sharing toward the children," and added, "The donated funds will be used carefully to help the children undergoing treatment return to society in good health."
The Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit foundation registered with the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2001, conducting various projects including medical treatment and care support, emotional support, and blood donation campaigns for children with pediatric cancer, leukemia, and rare diseases.
Lee Chan-won is currently communicating with fans through the nationwide tour concert "Changa: A Brilliant Day." After successfully completing the Busan performance, Lee Chan-won will continue the tour with shows in Jinju (February 21–22), Gwangju (March 7–8), and Daejeon (March 28–29).
