The group BTS has set a new record on the Japanese Oricon chart. BTS's single CD "Butter" surpassed 4 million cumulative points on the Oricon "Weekly Combined Single Ranking." This record was achieved during the tracking period from February 2 to 6. The Oricon chart is calculated by combining streaming figures, digital download numbers, and more. BTS became the first overseas artist to exceed 4 million cumulative points and ranked as the second artist in history to do so.
Oricon also highlighted the streaming performance of "Permission to Dance," which is included with "Butter." "Butter" debuted at number one on the Oricon weekly streaming ranking and held the top spot for eight consecutive weeks, recently surpassing 600 million cumulative streams. "Permission to Dance" also maintained number one on the same chart for eight consecutive weeks and is currently approaching 500 million streams. Both songs are mega hits for BTS, continuing to receive much love even about four years and seven months after their release.
In addition, BTS member Jin's fan concert live recording held in Japan, "#RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR in JAPAN," ranked number one simultaneously on the "Oricon Weekly Blu-ray Ranking" and the "Weekly Music DVD & Blu-ray Ranking." The Japan concerts were highly popular at the time of their holding, with all shows sold out at the events held in Chiba and Osaka last July. Especially, the performance at Osaka Kyocera Dome sold out even the top 8th floor and restricted view seats. Japan's five major sports newspapers—Sports Nippon, Daily Sports, Nikkan Sports, Sports Hochi, and Sankei Sports—featured the concert news prominently on their front pages.
BTS is scheduled to release their 5th full-length album "ARIRANG" on March 20 at 1 PM. The album will include a total of 14 tracks that showcase the team's identity and the current BTS. Following the album release, on the 21st, "BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG" will be held at Gwanghwamun Square. This event will be broadcast live on Netflix.
BTS's achievements are regarded as further proof of the power of their music and their global influence. Building on their success in the Japanese market, they plan to continue their activities steadily in the future.
