Hwang Young Woong makes first official stage appearance at Gangjin Celadon Festival... 4,000 fans 'crowd'


Singer Hwang Young Woong is resuming official activities. Hwang Young Woong is scheduled to perform on the stage of the '54th Gangjin Celadon Festival' held on the 28th. This festival will take place from the 22nd to the 3rd of next month at the Gangjin Goryeo Celadon Museum area in Jeollanam-do. The Gangjin Celadon Festival is a ceramic culture and arts festival, offering various experiences and attractions as a representative local festival.

Hwang Young Woong's appearance is drawing attention as his first official external event. According to his agency Golden Voice, requests for regional events and festival appearances for Hwang Young Woong are continuing. Hwang Young Woong stated, "Thanks to the fans who patiently waited for three years, I was able to return to the stage," and added, "I must repay them by doing my best."

Hwang Young Woong has issued an official statement regarding the school violence allegations. The agency explained, "The reason for maintaining silence instead of an immediate explanation was not because the allegations were true, but because we were concerned that it would harm the public competition stage and fellow artists." Hwang Young Woong appealed his innocence by releasing his middle school records and is known to have directly explained the related matters to the Gangjin County Office. Subsequently, the Gangjin County Office confirmed Hwang Young Woong's appearance after a review.

As news of Hwang Young Woong's appearance spread, a large number of fans are expected to gather at the festival. An event official stated, "Initially, about 1,200 people were expected to attend Hwang Young Woong's stage on the 28th, but around 4,000 fans have booked nearby accommodations and restaurants on the 27th and 28th, making it currently difficult to find lodging." Hwang Young Woong withdrew from the competition during his appearance on MBN's 'Burning Trotman' in 2023 due to school violence allegations.

Hwang Young Woong has faced various controversies, including past assault records and dating violence accusations. The 'Burning Trotman' production team revealed, "In 2016, Hwang Young Woong was fined 500,000 won by a summary indictment from the prosecution." Hwang Young Woong once said, "If those friends allow, I sincerely want to apologize as soon as possible."

The agency emphasized that although three years have passed, Hwang Young Woong was able to return to the stage thanks to the support of fans. Hwang Young Woong added, "I will always remain humble and become a singer who serves and contributes to society," and "I sincerely thank everyone who has called me back for broadcasts and events."
