BTS V, fans 'heartthrob' over winter night bungeoppang mukbang

Group BTS member V (real name Kim Taehyung) attracted attention for enjoying the winter snack, bungeoppang. Recently, V posted several everyday photos on his social media (SNS) with the caption "January ends, February begins." In the photos, V is seen stretching in the practice room with BTS members, sporting messy hair. Especially, the image of V holding a bungeoppang in his mouth caught many people's eyes.

Bungeoppang is a popular winter snack in Korea. V enjoyed bungeoppang on a street lit by streetlights at dusk, wearing a comfortable black jumper and a mask. He showed a bright smile while eating the bungeoppang starting from the head. This scene conveyed a simple daily life to the fandom ARMY and received great response.

BTS will release their 5th full album "ARIRANG" on March 20 and hold a comeback stage titled "BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG" at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21. Despite his busy schedule preparing for the comeback, V showed that he enjoys his daily life.

Bungeoppang consists of wheat flour batter and a sweet filling, and it is especially popular in winter. This snack is high in carbohydrates, sugar, and calories, but compared to other cakes or pastries, it is relatively moderate as an occasional treat. The red bean paste inside bungeoppang has several health benefits. Red beans are rich in vitamin B1 and saponins, which help strengthen immunity and prevent colds. They also have diuretic effects that aid in waste elimination, and potassium helps expel sodium, contributing to blood pressure regulation and reducing swelling. Rich in plant protein and dietary fiber, red beans promote bowel movements and help prevent constipation. Antioxidants such as anthocyanins reduce free radicals, aiding in anti-aging and skin health.

However, the red bean paste in bungeoppang is mainly a mixture of red beans, sugar, and oil, which may limit the health benefits of red beans. The high sugar content increases calorie and sugar load and can rapidly raise blood sugar levels. One red bean bungeoppang contains about 120–130 kcal, so consuming multiple pieces can quickly increase calorie intake. People with diabetes or insulin resistance should be cautious of rapid blood sugar spikes when consuming in excess.

Therefore, it is appropriate to eat about 1–2 bungeoppang as a snack at a time. It is advisable to reduce sugar intake from other breads, snacks, and beverages, and if possible, eat slowly to feel full. Also, it is better to consume them during the daytime when physical activity is higher rather than late at night. If you eat deliciously like V and burn off the calories through activity, there is no need to worry much.

Another popular filling in bungeoppang is custard cream, which mainly uses eggs and milk. Milk provides protein and calcium and helps relieve thirst and support cardiopulmonary function. Eggs contain high-quality protein and vitamins, soothing the stomach and contributing to nutrition. However, custard cream contains a lot of butter and sugar, which can rapidly raise blood sugar and increase saturated fat intake. People with diabetes or managing blood sugar should be cautious. One custard cream bungeoppang contains about 160–170 kcal, which is higher than red bean bungeoppang. Therefore, it is advisable to consume about 1–2 pieces at a time and avoid other cream breads, cakes, or sweet drinks.

The bungeoppang V enjoyed is a beloved winter snack for many, whose taste and warmth help forget the cold. Bungeoppang is a representative snack that evokes the winter atmosphere and is enjoyed by many during this season. V's simple appearance further highlighted the charm of bungeoppang.
