On the MBC variety show "Radio Star," actor Choi Dae-cheol revealed behind-the-scenes stories about weekend drama casting. The episode aired on the 18th and was a special titled "Thumbs Up for 2026! Holding the End of This Snow~," featuring Choi Dae-cheol, Uhm Ji-won, Kim Jo-han, and Baek Jin-kyung.

Choi Dae-cheol disclosed that he told Uhm Ji-won, who appeared in a weekend drama for the first time through "Please Take Care of the Eagle Five Brothers!," "Don't worry. I'm the Park Bo-gum of the weekend." Uhm Ji-won revealed this, and Choi Dae-cheol responded, "Did I really say that? That's crazy," causing laughter with his embarrassed reaction.

Choi Dae-cheol stated that he has appeared in weekend dramas eight times. Regarding the secret to his weekend drama casting, he humbly replied, "I don't really know the reason, but I seem comfortable being entrusted with weekend roles." Currently, after the conclusion of "Please Take Care of the Eagle Five Brothers!," he has returned with the weekend drama "Prescribing Love."

Choi Dae-cheol shared behind-the-scenes stories from the drama casting process. He recalled, "I felt anxious as the drama was ending. Usually, actors meet casting directors through their managers, but I met the director in the waiting room. Because of the smell, I asked right away." He confirmed that it was not the immediate next project but the one after that and said he visited the director personally a week later.

He happened to meet the director in the smoking room on the 5th floor of KBS and requested, "I heard you're doing the project after next, but please give me just one role." The director was initially surprised but contacted him a week later saying, "There's a decent role; is that okay?"

Kim Gu-ra admired Choi Dae-cheol's story and said, "Everyone in my position does as much as he does. I just think I was lucky." Choi Dae-cheol revealed that he made business cards to promote himself, which had the phrase "1588-DaecheolDaecheol" printed on them. He explained, "I thought it would be memorable, and if the number was too obvious, it might be burdensome. I just included it as a way to say, 'Just call me once.'"

Uhm Ji-won mentioned Choi Dae-cheol's drinking habits, saying, "He often makes toasts and always leads them. He talks about his feelings that day, and I think that's really nice." Choi Dae-cheol added, "Having done many long weekend dramas, it feels awkward when we do the first script reading and start shooting. So, I try to get close quickly during the first company dinner."

Additionally, Choi Dae-cheol revealed that Uhm Ji-won takes candid photos. He said, "Photos suddenly appear in the group chat without knowing when Uhm actress took them." Uhm Ji-won laughed and replied, "Actually, I take them openly but don't realize it because I'm drunk. The photos I upload are just the tip of the iceberg; there are worse ones."
