Shim Hyung-tak's son Haru chooses money at a Japanese-style first birthday party... "I want various experiences"

On the February 18th broadcast of KBS 2TV's "The Return of Superman," actor Shim Hyung-tak's son Haru celebrated his first birthday party. This episode included scenes where Haru's birthday party showcased the meeting of Korean and Japanese cultures. In Japan, there is a custom called "Issho Mochi," where a baby carries a rice cake weighing about 1.8 liters on their back and crawls when they turn one year old. Haru bravely followed this custom, carrying the rice cake on his back as he crawled.

The highlight of the birthday party was the traditional Korean Doljabi ceremony. Shim Hyung-tak's wife, Saya, chose her employee ID card as one of the items she hoped their son would pick. Saya explained, "I used to be an office worker. So I hope Haru can experience that too." Shim Hyung-tak wished for their son to pick the microphone, and when Son Min-su asked, "Do you want to raise him to be an entertainer like you?" Shim Hyung-tak answered, "Yes." Additionally, one of the candidates was noodles made by Saya's father.

Haru chose money among the employee ID card, microphone, and noodles. Regarding this choice, his maternal grandfather expressed satisfaction, saying, "This is the best." Saya happily interpreted her son's choice, saying, "I think Haru can do anything. What his father wants, what I want, what Mr. Shim wants—all is money."

Saya's Japanese family attended Haru's first birthday party. The maternal grandfather surprised everyone by greeting in Korean, saying, "Haru, thank you for being born. Grandpa loves you very, very much." Saya gave a congratulatory speech, saying, "Exactly one year ago today in the afternoon, Haru was born. I believe that the reason today has come is thanks to everyone who came here. Haru, thank you for making us your dad and mom." She added jokingly, "Shim keeps asking me if there is any dad who is this good at parenting, but I don't want to praise him. So from now on, I will praise him, so it would be good if he stays quiet."

Shim Hyung-tak showed an emotional side when talking about his relationship with his wife Saya, saying, "Because I am older, when I said I thought the time with Saya would be short, she said she would be with me until the end. That words have become a tremendous strength for me." He choked back tears as he said, "To you who are like an iron man, to you who have a computer-like mind, I will be your desk."

The decorations for the birthday party were adorned with photos of Haru's growth. Shim Hyung-tak, moved by the moment, said, "Here lies Haru's history," showing tears. He confessed, "Until five years ago, I never thought I would have a child. When I was hurt by my family and was struggling so much I felt like dying, it was my wife who put me on oxygen." Shim Hyung-tak humorously expressed his worries about Haru's marriage, saying, "Suddenly, emotions well up. I guess I'm getting old."

Haru's first birthday party was a meaningful occasion where family and friends gathered to celebrate. Shim Hyung-tak and Saya expressed their hopes for their family life ahead along with their son's growth. This broadcast commemorated Haru's special day and touched many people.
