Singer Young Tak recently took on a taste comparison of 7 types of ‘Dubai Chewy Cookies’ (hereafter 'Du-jjon-ku'), the trendiest dessert in South Korea. In a video recently released through his official YouTube channel ‘Park Young Tak,’ he shared his exciting first tasting experience, saying, “I’m the only person left who hasn’t tried this yet”.
Young Tak, who usually does not enjoy snacking, couldn't hide his fascination upon seeing the real 'Du-jjon-ku'—a ‘K-dessert’ that, ironically, doesn't exist in Dubai. He tasted a diverse lineup, including basic cafe products, major corporate brands, fruit-infused versions, tarts, and even products shaped like small kimbap.
He repeatedly exclaimed “Delicious!” at the texture—chewy on the outside and crispy on the inside—and drew attention by comparing the stretchy, chewy texture of the casing to ‘Injeolmi’ (Korean rice cakes). Upon eating a version combined with egg tart and ‘Gwa-du-ku’ (fruit Dubai cookie) featuring a whole strawberry, he remarked, “It feels like a foreign delicacy”.
During the tasting of the ‘Dubai Salt Bread,’ which boasts the most intense waiting times, Young Tak’s distinct preferences were revealed. Having tasted the salt bread obtained after three failed attempts, he selected it as his favorite among the seven, stating, “The bread neutralizes the sweetness of the chocolate, so it mixes well”.
In response to the saying that having a lot of 'Du-jjon-ku' these days is a sign of ‘power,’ Young Tak joked, “The real power is having a Dubai salt bread but only eating the bread part”.
However, under the onslaught of continuous sweetness, he showed his sweet side, saying, “I don’t think I’ll think about chocolate for about three months” and “For myself, I’d just buy familiar chocolate from a convenience store, but if someone else wanted it, I could willingly endure a 50-minute wait”.
At the end of the video, Young Tak reminisced about his childhood snacks, such as ‘Wang Sora (conch-shaped) crackers’ and ‘Ppobgi’ (honeycomb toffee). Fans responded enthusiastically, with comments like “Young Tak’s honest mukbang is fun” and “He said he doesn’t like sweets, yet he eats them so well”.
