
The OST "I Never Learned How to Lose," sung by Seventeen member Dokyeom for the webtoon "Return of the Mount Hua Sect," will be released on February 23 at 6 PM. This song is a pop rock genre characterized by a fast tempo and refreshing atmosphere, expressing the mindset of the protagonist Cheongmyeong and the disciples of the Mount Hua Sect who move forward without losing hope even in despair. Dokyeom conveys Cheongmyeong's resolute will musically with his distinctive clear vocal tone, and his vocals, which possess both softness and firmness, vividly depict the emotions and growth narrative of the characters.
"Return of the Mount Hua Sect" is a work adapted into a comic from a web novel that has been downloaded over 700 million times on Naver Series. The story follows the legendary martial artist Cheongmyeong, who is reincarnated as a child and struggles to revive his ruined sect, the Mount Hua Sect. The work won the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award at the 2022 Korea Content Awards and was ranked first in the "2024 Comics & Webtoon User Survey" as the most enjoyed webtoon by readers.
Dokyeom is recognized for his outstanding vocal skills as the main vocalist of Seventeen. He has established himself as an "OST powerhouse" by participating in numerous works, including the OST "It's You" for the tvN drama "Hospital Playlist," the OST "Go!" for tvN's "Twenty-Five Twenty-One," and the OST "Short Hair" for JTBC's "Welcome to Samdal-ri." Additionally, he formed a new unit with fellow main vocalist Seungkwan and released the mini-album "Soya-gok" last month, continuing his reputation as one of the main vocalists of Seventeen. Notably, the title track "Blue" from this album, a traditional ballad, unusually topped domestic and international music charts.
Seventeen is also continuing their group activities. They will start the "SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_] IN ASIA" at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium on February 28 and March 1, followed by large stadium concerts in Singapore, Bangkok, and Bulacan. On April 4 and 5, they will hold encore concerts at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, concluding their seven-month world tour.
The fifth OST of "Return of the Mount Hua Sect," "I Never Learned How to Lose," was co-produced by Brand New Music and Studio Lico. Under the production of Kibi, lyricists and composers Raimer, OUOW, and Lee Eun-yu participated in the creation. This song is released ahead of the serialization of "Return of the Mount Hua Sect" Season 3, with Dokyeom's soft yet powerful vocals vividly expressing the firm will and growth narrative of the characters in the work.
This OST follows the previously released songs "Last Sword Dance" by Jo Gwang-il, "Full Bloom" by Ahn Ye-eun, "Plum Blossom" by Kim Yoon-ah, and "Flower Fire" by Shim Kyu-sun, marking the fifth track. Additionally, an animated music video directed by Studio Lico will be released together.
With Dokyeom's participation, this OST is expected to deliver even greater emotion to the fans of "Return of the Mount Hua Sect."
