Kim Ki-tae defeats 'Sing Again 2' winner Heo Gak to claim new throne

Kim Ki-tae won the championship on 'Sing Again 2,' defeating Heo Gak to become the new king. In the second episode of MBC's '1deungdeul' aired on the 22nd, a 'one-on-one battle' took place where only the top five teams survived. With the rankings from the first exploratory round reset and no stage opportunities given to those ranked sixth or lower, the contestants engaged in fierce competition for their pride.

The highlight of the competition that day was the rivalry match between Heo Gak and Kim Ki-tae. Heo Gak chose "Don't Worry," a song comforting the entire nation, to stir the audience's emotions. Baek Ji-young questioned Heo Gak's choice, saying, "'Don't Worry,' along with 'Mom's Song' and 'Dad's Song,' is one of the three forbidden songs in competitions," casting doubt on his selection.

In response to Heo Gak's choice, Kim Ki-tae selected Lee Seung-hwan's "How Can Love Be Like That." He showcased a unique technique called 'no-mic live,' where he put down the microphone mid-performance and sang with just his natural voice. His heartfelt roar earned a standing ovation from the panel, and even Heo Gak expressed astonishment, saying, "This is unbelievable." Lee Min-jung was moved to tears watching Kim Ki-tae's stage, saying, "I really tried hard not to cry, but I couldn't help it in front of the lion," sharing her emotional reaction.

Fellow singers praised Kim Ki-tae's performance with mixed feelings, saying, "How can you use the ultimate special technique meant for the finale so early?" Meanwhile, Heo Gak jokingly protested to Kim Ki-tae, "Hyung, did you want to beat me that badly?" After a fierce battle, victory went to Kim Ki-tae. He expressed his gratitude with a deep bow, saying, "It was a performance that made me think a lot. I will sing my best."

After losing to Kim Ki-tae, Heo Gak announced a rematch, saying, "To beat Kim Ki-tae hyung, I might even sing 'Father' next week." This raised anticipation for the upcoming 'one-on-one battle.'

At the end of the broadcast, a more intense '1deungdeul one-on-one battle' was teased, capturing viewers' attention. MBC's audition program '1deungdeul' airs every Sunday at 9:10 PM.
