Song Ji-hyo, a 5mm polyp found in health checkup after 45 years... "Possibility of causing cancer"

Actress Song Ji-hyo discovered a polyp during her first-ever health checkup. On the 26th, Song Ji-hyo uploaded a video titled "Shocking Results of Song Ji-hyo's First Health Checkup" on her YouTube channel. She underwent a health checkup for the first time in 45 years, appearing tired after controlling her diet for a week and staying up all night the day before at the hospital.

After undergoing several tests, Song Ji-hyo received sedation for a gastroscopy and colonoscopy. After the examination, she worriedly asked the production team, "Did I say anything nonsensical?" When she went to hear the results, the attending doctor explained, "There are no ulcers, and the redness is mild gastritis. You are generally healthy." Regarding the colon, the doctor said, "There are no overall abnormalities, but a small polyp was found. The polyp is about 5mm in size."

Song Ji-hyo worried, "Isn't 5mm really big?" but the doctor explained, "It's not that big. Judging by its shape, it's not a bad polyp. However, since it can be a factor in causing cancer, it's better to remove it." The doctor added, "You only need to be careful for about 4 to 5 days after the checkup. Avoid strenuous exercise and spicy foods. The colon is usually checked once every 4 to 5 years, and the stomach and colon should be re-examined in two years. You don't need to worry about the endoscopy results. You are generally healthy."

Song Ji-hyo expressed her nervousness about the health checkup, saying, "This is my first health checkup ever. I couldn't sleep at all. I'm very tired and weak. I almost experienced hell last night." She said, "Taking the medicine was very hard. Since it was my first time, I didn't know the tricks, so I controlled my diet for a week. Is a health checkup this hard? I respect those who do health checkups diligently. I don't think I can do it twice."

In addition to the colonoscopy, Song Ji-hyo also underwent an upper abdominal ultrasound, liver elastography, and carotid artery ultrasound. The attending doctor evaluated, "The upper abdominal organs such as the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder are spotless. The liver elastography is very good and soft." Song Ji-hyo was relieved, saying, "I thought my liver would be chewy, but it's soft, so I'm glad."

During the final sedated gastroscopy and colonoscopy, mild gastritis symptoms and a small 5mm polyp were found. The doctor advised, "Judging by its shape, it's not a bad polyp, but it was removed as a preventive measure," and added, "You should have regular checkups every 4 to 5 years." After completing the examination, Song Ji-hyo said, "I'm relieved that the results came out well despite my irregular lifestyle," and "I will take better care of my health from now on." She sent an encouraging message to viewers, saying, "Let's all stay healthy in 2026."
