BTS to Cover Gwanghwamun... 260,000 Fans Expected at 'Comeback Live,' Safety Alert Issued

On March 21, the day of the scheduled 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' performance celebrating BTS's comeback, Gyeongbokgung Palace will be closed for one day. The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Headquarters announced on February 28 through its official website and social media that "Gyeongbokgung Palace will be closed on Saturday, March 21." Although the regular closing day for Gyeongbokgung is every Tuesday, a temporary closure was decided considering safety issues due to BTS's performance.

The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, located near Gwanghwamun Square, will also be temporarily closed on the same day. Sejong Center for the Performing Arts plans to suspend performances and exhibitions. An estimated 260,000 people are expected to gather for BTS's performance, according to police estimates. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is preparing safety management measures focusing on major routes expected to be crowded.

The police requested Seoul Metro to allow non-stop passage in advance at three nearby stations—Gwanghwamun, Gyeongbokgung, and City Hall—on the day of the event. They are also considering traffic control on surrounding roads such as Sejong-daero, Jongno, and Sajik-ro.

BTS will release their fifth full-length album, 'ARIRANG,' on March 20, and hold the 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' performance at Gwanghwamun Square the following day. They will unveil stages for new songs, including the title track, for the first time. This comeback marks the first full-group return since all members completed their military service, with SUGA being discharged in June last year, drawing significant attention.

In this regard, ticket reservations held on February 23 sold out instantly, proving the fans' enthusiastic interest. BTS's comeback is highly anticipated by fans both domestically and internationally, and this performance is established as an important event commemorating their return.

The police measures to ensure safety in Gyeongbokgung and surrounding areas are considered essential for smooth viewing on the day of the performance. The police will closely monitor all situations related to the event and will implement additional safety measures if necessary.

BTS's comeback holds meaning beyond a simple performance. They have a massive global fanbase, and their activities play a crucial role in the global spread of Korean culture. This performance will be an opportunity to strengthen communication with fans and showcase new music.

Such a large-scale event also holds great significance as a cultural event of Seoul. The Seoul Metropolitan Government expects BTS's comeback to contribute to revitalizing the local economy and attracting tourism. Gwanghwamun Square, where the performance will be held, is one of Seoul's representative landmarks and a popular destination for many tourists.

BTS's comeback live will serve as a milestone in elevating the status of Korean popular music, and the new music and performances they present will provide fans with an unforgettable experience. All matters related to the performance preparation are being thoroughly planned, and efforts continue to create an environment where fans and citizens can safely enjoy the event.

In conclusion, BTS's 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' performance will establish itself as an important event that goes beyond a simple music event to showcase the identity of Korean culture to the world. Through this performance, they are preparing to further strengthen their bond with fans and embark on a new musical journey.
