Gyeongbokgung Palace 'Completely Stops' for BTS Gwanghwamun Performance... Cultural Heritage Administration on Emergency Duty

Gyeongbokgung Palace will be completely closed on the 21st in conjunction with BTS's performance at Gwanghwamun. On the 1st, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that it held a safety measures inspection meeting related to the event. Gyeongbokgung Palace will be closed on the day of the performance, the 21st, and the parking lot will also be closed. Entry will be fully restricted, and all staff will enter an emergency duty system. This measure is to prevent crowd accidents and damage to cultural heritage in advance.

The Cultural Heritage Administration will coordinate with related agencies such as Jongno Police Station to establish an emergency contact system and operate perimeter patrol teams until one week before the event. Inspections will also be conducted to check for any fallen roof tiles around Gwanghwamun. During the week before the event, visitor exits from all pavilions and restrooms within the palace grounds will be monitored, and perimeter patrols will be continuously carried out.

The National Palace Museum will be temporarily closed on the day of the performance. The "Emergency Response Team for Palace Heritage" will be activated to focus inspections on key areas around Yeongchumun, Gwanghwamun, and Geonchunmun. On-site responses will be strengthened in cooperation with the police and other related agencies, including vehicle control and CCTV monitoring.

At Sungnyemun, where the BTS media facade will be held, additional safety personnel will be deployed, and emergency operations will be conducted to prevent crowding accidents. Heo Min, head of the Cultural Heritage Administration, said, "We will thoroughly prepare for the large-scale performance and the increase in visitors to ensure that the safety of the public and national heritage is prioritized under any circumstances."

BTS will release their 5th full album, "Arirang (ARIRANG)," at 1 PM on the 20th and make a full-group comeback. Then, on the 21st at 8 PM, they will hold the "BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG" performance for about an hour around Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. This performance will be broadcast live online through Netflix as well as offline.
