Kim Yong-gun recently shared an update on parenting during a broadcast. On the March 2nd episode of TV Chosun's "Lovers of Joseon," the daily lives of actor Hwang Bo-ra and Kim Yong-gun were revealed. On that day, Hwang Bo-ra invited her father-in-law Kim Yong-gun and asked him to take care of their 19-month-old son, Woo-in. Kim Yong-gun, who is 80 years old this year, is raising his youngest son, Si-on. He said, "My son is six years old, so rather than watching over him closely, I just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't go to dangerous places."
Hwang Bo-ra expressed surprise at Kim Yong-gun taking care of Woo-in, saying, "I heard he even went to a kids' cafe." Kim Yong-gun mentioned the difficulties of parenting, saying, "I think I'll just have to get an IV drip at the hospital for three days," but added, "Grandfather is happy." When asked by the production team, Kim Yong-gun spoke about Ha Jung-woo and Cha Jung-won's marriage plans, saying, "Ha Jung-woo also likes babies. So it seems marriage talks are slowly coming up."
Hwang Bo-ra explained the relationship with Cha Jung-won, saying, "I heard Ha Jung-woo and Cha Jung-won met by chance in a private setting. It seems the man liked her more, so the meeting happened." Additionally, Kim Yong-gun showed off his parenting skills by skillfully handling his grandson Woo-in's diaper changes. He created a balloon amusement park at home and joked, "Let's see each other in a year. I can't visit often. Don't be upset," which brought laughter.
Sharing his parenting experience, Kim Yong-gun said, "Since my son has grown a bit, now I tend to follow him around rather than take care of him directly." He emphasized, "I just keep an eye to make sure he doesn't go to dangerous places." Hwang Bo-ra expressed surprise at Kim Yong-gun's frequency of parenting involvement, saying, "I heard my father even went to a kids' cafe. He goes out to play with Si-on and is very dedicated to parenting."
Born in 1946, Kim Yong-gun had a late-born son with his girlfriend, who is 39 years younger, in 2021. He experienced conflicts over the birth but, after a dramatic reconciliation, proceeded with the registration process and is supporting the upbringing. The broadcast clearly showed Kim Yong-gun's daily life with his grandson Woo-in.
