Former Chungju City New Media Team officer Kim Seontae launched his personal YouTube channel on the 3rd and began full-scale activities. Within a day of its launch, the channel surpassed 250,000 subscribers, receiving an explosive response. In his first video, Kim Seontae revealed the reasons for his retirement from public service and his future plans.
Kim Seontae started the video with the greeting, "I am no longer a Chungju man." Regarding suspicions about his retirement, he explained, "It seemed like I was being forced out against my original intention, but that is not true at all." He emphasized that his relationship with colleagues at Chungju City Hall was amicable, stating, "I was never ostracized, and many city hall officials helped me a lot."
Explaining the reason for his retirement, Kim Seontae said, "My goal was one million subscribers, and I thought I had done all I could once I reached that level." He added, "I received many offers from various places, and after much consideration, I wanted to try working freely." He candidly stated, "The biggest reason was that I wanted to earn more money." Kim Seontae also added, "I want to showcase my abilities before I get older."
Kim Seontae's YouTube channel showed a steep increase in subscribers immediately after its launch. As of 10 p.m. that day, the subscriber count exceeded 250,000. This number far surpasses YouTube's Silver Play Button threshold of 100,000 subscribers. Kim Seontae joined as a level 9 public official in 2016 and gained popularity with unique content while managing Chungju City's SNS promotion from 2018. At the end of 2023, after seven years of service, he was rapidly promoted to level 6.
Kim Seontae's first video attracted attention when the official Chungju City Hall account left a comment. When the comment "Seontae, my Seontae" was posted, Kim Seontae liked the comment. This shows that he maintains a good relationship even after leaving the job.
Kim Seontae's YouTube profile picture was created by travel YouTuber Ppanibottle. Ppanibottle revealed on personal SNS, "I created the new channel profile picture for former Chungju man Kim Seontae." The two formed a connection after appearing together on the Wave original variety show "Game of Blood 3."
Kim Seontae has attracted intense interest since launching his YouTube channel. Having left Chungju City Hall just before reaching one million subscribers, attention is focused on whether he can achieve one million subscribers on his personal channel as well. Kim Seontae laughed and said, "Of course, I don't know if I have the ability or not. I might even fail."
Kim Seontae's YouTube channel has drawn public attention from the moment it was created, and expectations for his future activities are growing. Whether his ambition to establish himself as a YouTuber will be realized is eagerly anticipated.
