Since the broadcast of "Unanswered Questions" covering the case of a 4-month-old infant's death in Yeosu, public demand for severe punishment of the abusive parents has surged. The episode aired on February 28 on SBS detailed the circumstances of the infant death case that occurred in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do. In October of last year, an incident occurred where the mother briefly placed the child in the bathtub to wash them and then urgently reported the situation. At the time of the report, the mother claimed that the baby seemed to have drowned and was not breathing properly.

When the paramedics arrived at the scene, the baby was already in critical condition, showing cyanosis on the lips. The emergency responders found multiple bruises of varying colors on the baby's body. The infant was transported to the hospital, and during an open abdominal surgery, approximately 500cc of blood was lost. Doctors confirmed brain hemorrhage and fractures. Amid suspicions of abuse, the baby was transferred from Yeosu to a higher-level hospital in Gwangju but ultimately passed away.

The autopsy confirmed the cause of death as hemorrhagic shock and organ failure due to multiple traumatic injuries. The biological mother, who was with the baby at the time, claimed she briefly left the child in the bathtub, and that the drowning accident occurred as water filled the tub during that time. The biological father also denied the wife's abuse allegations. He submitted home camera footage to the police showing the baby falling from the bed eight days before the incident, arguing that the brain hemorrhage could have been caused by the fall.

However, 11 days of home camera footage obtained by the prosecution revealed different circumstances. Although the camera installed in the master bedroom did not capture the bathroom scene at the time of the incident, the mother's voice was recorded. The video included a dull sound followed by the mother's yelling, "I don't need someone like you." The mother claimed that the sound was not from hitting the child but from moving the stacked baby bathtubs.

Additional footage also showed continuous abuse by the mother. While she admitted to hitting the child and leaving the baby alone in the bathtub, she claimed there was no intent to kill. Currently, the biological father is detained on charges of child abuse neglect, and the biological mother is detained on charges of child abuse resulting in death and child murder.

Since the broadcast, posts tracking the identities of the perpetrators and demanding severe punishment have spread online. Netizens are calling for the harshest penalties, saying things like, "They must receive the maximum sentence," and "How much worse could the unreleased footage be?" Court schedules and petition forms have also been shared on the internet. This case has sparked social discussions related to child protection and raised awareness about child abuse.
