Kim Yong Bin, 'Friday Gold' Maggie Singer's First Win... Joins the 5-Star Lineup


Kim Yong Bin overcame trauma by recording their first win in the Maggie Singer round on 'Golden Friday.' The 11th episode of TV CHOSUN's 'Golden Friday,' aired on March 6, featured the 'Miss & Mister Legend Special,' where famous classic songs from past competitions were performed again by the voices of 10 trot top stars. The episode recorded a 4.9% viewership rating according to Nielsen Korea, reaching a peak rating of 5.3%, ranking first among entertainment programs in the same time slot.

In the first round, Son Bin Ah faced off against Chun Gil. Son Bin Ah chose Yoon Si-nae's 'Passionate Love,' a song that had previously caused Chun Gil to lose. Son Bin Ah dominated the stage with powerful vocals and heartfelt emotion, prompting judges to react with "You won." Chun Gil selected Kang Jin's 'A Glass of Makgeolli,' delivering a stable performance, but the victory went to Chun Gil by a narrow margin of 2 points. With this, Chun Gil achieved six golden stars, leaving only one star away from the Golden Cup.

In the second round, Jung Seo-joo competed against Kim Yong Bin. Jung Seo-joo sang Seol Woon-do's 'Purple Postcard,' scoring 96 points. Kim Yong Bin took the stage with No Sa-yeon's 'Wish,' scoring 97 points and surpassing Jung Seo-joo. However, Kim Yong Bin faced the variable of the 'Maggie Singer.' Yoo Ji-woo, appearing as the Maggie Singer, chose Patti Kim's 'You Are My Friend,' scoring 92 points. Kim Yong Bin secured their first win in this round and joined the 5-star line.

In the third round, Bae Ah-hyun and Cheon Rok Dam competed. Bae Ah-hyun chose Yoo Ji-na's 'Peony,' achieving a perfect score of 100 points and winning. Cheon Rok Dam sang Jung Seo-joo's 'Wind, Wind,' scoring 98 points. Bae Ah-hyun made a bold choice by bringing back the song tied to their previous defeat, moving the audience to tears with their performance.

In the fourth round, Nam Seung-min faced Choo Hyeokjin. Nam Seung-min selected Song Ga-in's 'Geomungo-ya,' scoring 99 points. Choo Hyeokjin reinterpreted Han Seung-gi's 'Lover,' previously sung by Kim Yong Bin, but scored only 96 points. Nam Seung-min added a golden star and claimed victory.

In the final fifth round, Choi Jae Myeong and Oh Yoo-jin competed. Choi Jae Myeong chose Lee Sung-woo's 'Jinttobaegi,' receiving great applause from the audience. Oh Yoo-jin decorated the stage with No Ji-hoon's 'Finger Heart,' but scored 96 points. Choi Jae Myeong became the last golden star winner of this special episode.

In this episode, Chun Gil firmly maintained the lead by becoming the first to achieve six golden stars. Kim Yong Bin, Jung Seo-joo, and Bae Ah-hyun followed as 5-star contenders, intensifying the competition for the top ranks. Next week, the fierce golden deathmatch among trot top stars will continue.
