Former Chungju City Public Relations Officer Kim Seontae surpassed 1 million subscribers just two days after launching his personal YouTube channel. On the 3rd, Kim Seontae created a YouTube channel named after himself, "Kim Seontae," and uploaded his first video. As of 7 p.m. on the 5th, the subscriber count exceeded 1 million, earning him the Gold Play Button.
On the 6th, Kim Seontae posted a video titled "Thank You for 1 Million Subscribers" on his YouTube channel. In the video, he greeted viewers while lying on a bed in what appeared to be his home. He said, "It feels like I just created the channel yesterday, but I'm already at 1 million subscribers, and I'm very grateful," adding, "I will approach this with the humblest attitude so I can look up to all of you."
Regarding the rapid increase in subscribers, Kim Seontae expressed surprise, saying, "I heard that only Jennie and Baek Jong-won surpassed 700,000 subscribers in one day." He added, "Personally, I thought 300,000 subscribers at this point would be good enough, so I didn't expect this to happen."
About the success of his personal channel, Kim Seontae said, "It's not entirely good that I surpassed the Chungju City channel's subscribers," and added, "While I'm glad my personal channel is successful, I also hope the Chungju City channel does well." He revealed, "I've only slept about four hours in the past two days," and confessed, "Since the channel is doing well, maybe dopamine is being released, so I can't sleep."
Kim Seontae also mentioned receiving many advertising requests. He said, "I've received about 700 advertising emails," and added, "There are also many supportive messages, so I plan to check them one by one." Regarding future content direction, he stated, "I want to create a specialized promotional channel," and planned, "I will produce content introducing various public-interest topics such as people, products, and systems."
He said he plans to focus on YouTube rather than broadcasting activities. Kim Seontae said, "I will stay in Chungju for the time being and concentrate on content production." He also mentioned, "I plan to donate 30% of the revenue, excluding costs, splitting profits 70-30," and added, "I want to regularly create donation-related content to give back to society, even if just a little."
Kim Seontae joined Chungju City as a level 9 public official in 2016. After becoming the manager of Chungju City Hall's Facebook promotion in 2018, he gained attention for creating 'B-grade sensibility' promotional materials. Until recently, he worked as the head of the new media team responsible for Chungju City's YouTube channel "ChungTV" and SNS but resigned at the end of last month. After his resignation, there were speculations about him moving to the Blue House, but Kim Seontae dismissed various rumors by directly stating his position.
As of 11 p.m. on the 6th, Kim Seontae's YouTube channel surpassed 1.17 million subscribers. The subscriber count increased rapidly right after the channel's launch, and the first video recorded 6 million views in two days. Kim Seontae vowed, "I was lucky to reach 1 million subscribers, but I will never be arrogant," and promised, "I will continue to create content with a humble attitude."
