Son Heung-min scoreless... LAFC defeats Dallas to set a new record with three consecutive opening wins

Los Angeles FC (LAFC) won 1-0 in the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) Round 3 home match against FC Dallas held at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, USA, on the 8th (Korean time). With this, LAFC recorded their first-ever MLS opening 3-game winning streak in club history. LAFC continued their momentum by winning five consecutive official matches this season.

In the match, LAFC secured victory with David Martinez's winning goal in the 10th minute of the second half. Martinez fired a left-footed mid-range shot from the right side of the penalty arc, shaking the opponent's net. LAFC scored 6 goals in 3 matches without conceding a single goal. As a result, LAFC extended their unbeaten streak in the league with five consecutive official wins this season.

Son Heung-min started as the forward in this match but did not record any goals or assists. He played the full match and contributed to the team's victory. Son has recorded 3 assists in 3 MLS matches this season, and added 1 goal and 3 assists in 2 CONCACAF Champions Cup matches, totaling 1 goal and 6 assists. Son led the attack while facing intense marking from the opponents in this game.

Early in the match, Son fell while trying to get past the opposing goalkeeper in the 10th minute of the first half, but the referee judged it as simulation and gave him a yellow card. Later, in the 23rd minute of the first half, he passed to Buanga to attempt an attack, but Buanga's shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. In the 44th minute of the first half, Son attempted a shot from the left side of the opponent's goal area with individual skill, but it was again saved by the goalkeeper.

LAFC faced a crisis early in the second half as well. In the 3rd minute of the second half, they conceded a perfect chance after the opponent's 2-on-1 pass, but goalkeeper Hugo Lloris threw himself to save the danger. After that, LAFC took control of the match with Martinez's winning goal in the 10th minute of the second half. Buanga and Son also attempted shots in the 25th and 34th minutes of the second half, but both were blocked by the goalkeeper.

Just before the end of the match, Dallas launched a fierce counterattack, but LAFC's defense and Lloris's saves safely finished the game. With this victory, LAFC extended their unbeaten home record against Dallas to 7 wins and 1 draw. Son received his first yellow card since moving to the US stage in this match. LAFC is maintaining a good flow since the start of the season, boosting the team's morale.
