MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama '21st Century Grand Lady' has confirmed its broadcast schedule. On the 6th, MBC announced that the first episode of this drama has been rescheduled to April 10. The original air date was planned for the first week of April, but it was postponed by one week due to the broadcast of the '2026 World Baseball Classic (2026 WBC).'
'21st Century Grand Lady' features a unique setting based on the constitutional monarchy of South Korea in the 21st century. The main characters are Seong Hee-joo (IU), an heiress of a chaebol family who has everything but holds a commoner's status, and Lee Wan, Prince Ian (played by Byun Woo-seok), the king's son who is in a position where he can have nothing. The story revolves around the romance that breaks social barriers between these two characters.
This drama attracted attention from the casting stage with a glamorous lineup. Along with IU and Byun Woo-seok, various actors including Gong Seung-yeon, Noh Sang-hyun, Lee Jae-won, Chae Seo-an, Yoo Soo-bin, and Lee Yeon have joined to enhance the drama's completeness. In particular, the leads IU and Byun Woo-seok appeared together as presenters at last year's '2025 MBC Drama Awards,' hinting at their chemistry.
'21st Century Grand Lady' is scheduled as the successor to the currently popular drama 'In Your Bright Season.' This drama can also be watched through domestic OTT platforms Wave and Disney Plus. Attention is focused on what kind of response the fate-defying romance portrayed by these two top stars will evoke in viewers.
