A Man Living with the King Tops the Box Office for 5 Consecutive Weeks... Surpasses 11.5 Million Cumulative Viewers


The movie "The Man Who Lives with the King" continued its strong box office performance even in its fifth weekend after release. According to the Korea Film Council's integrated computer network on the 9th, from the 6th to the 8th, "The Man Who Lives with the King" (directed by Jang Hang-jun) attracted 1,725,767 viewers, maintaining its number one position at the box office. This brought the cumulative audience to 11,503,745.

"The Man Who Lives with the King" is a film set in Cheongnyeongpo in 1457, telling the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself for the revival of the village and a young former king who was dethroned. The film surpassed 11 million viewers on the 33rd day after its release on the 8th, a faster pace than "Pamyoh" (40 days) and "Spring in Seoul" (36 days). It was recorded as the first movie to reach 10 million viewers this year and surpassed the audience number of "Crime City 4" (2024), ranking 20th among all-time Korean films.

The box office momentum has not slowed even in the fifth week after release, with a reservation rate reaching 55.1%. The number of reserved tickets was 129,487 as of 8:15 AM. Following this, "Hoppers" attracted 233,823 viewers, ranking second at the box office. "Humint" (43,832 viewers), "Mad Dance Office" (14,784 viewers), and "God's Orchestra" (11,912 viewers) followed.

After gathering about 760,000 viewers during the first weekend after release, "The Man Who Lives with the King" saw an increase in audience numbers with 950,000 in the second week, 1.41 million in the third week, and 1.75 million in the fourth week. It continued its upward trend by attracting 1.72 million viewers in the fifth week. Notably, on Saturday the 7th, the daily audience reached about 750,000, marking the highest daily attendance since its release.

With this, "The Man Who Lives with the King" surpassed "Crime City 4" (11,511,621 viewers, 2024) to rank 23rd in the all-time box office for Korean films. It is also likely to soon surpass the records of "Train to Busan" (11.56 million viewers, 2016), "Taegukgi" (11.76 million viewers, 2004), and "Pamyoh" (11.91 million viewers, 2024).

The film stars well-known actors such as Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do, and is directed by Jang Hang-jun. "The Man Who Lives with the King" holds an important position in the Korean film box office rankings and is receiving high interest from audiences.
