Kim Jae-hee returns with 'Fate War 49' amid 200 billion won financial fraud allegations

Singer Kim Jae-hee (54) resumed his broadcasting activities by appearing on Disney Plus's program "Fate War 49" on the 4th. Kim Jae-hee was previously referred to the prosecution on charges of involvement in a multi-level financial fraud worth 200 billion won. In November last year, he was handed over to the prosecution on charges of violating the Act on the Regulation of Similar Credit Transactions and fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.

According to the legal community, A and B, co-representatives of the criminal company, were detained, while 67 people, including Kim Jae-hee, were booked without detention. Kim Jae-hee served as the vice chairman and inside director of the company and was known to have attended business briefings to promote the company's business and sing. He reportedly received 100 million won in salary, a luxury car, and valuables worth about 80 million won.

Kim Jae-hee denied the charges during police investigation, saying, "I did not know it was a fraudulent crime." His agency stated, "Kim Jae-hee worked as a promotional model at the request of a junior who was starting a platform company, but he did not receive the promotional model fee properly," and added, "He had no knowledge of the company's specific business details and did not participate in decision-making." The agency also said that Kim Jae-hee sent a certified letter expressing his intention to resign from the company where he was an inside director in February last year, but it was not processed.

Kim Jae-hee appeared on "Fate War 49" while the lawsuit was still unresolved. On the show, he expressed sorrow by mentioning his older brother who died young and his wife who passed away while battling sarcoma. After the broadcast, Kim Jae-hee revealed behind-the-scenes stories through his SNS. He explained, "The production team told me to ask anything if I was curious," and "On the day of filming, I went to the recording location, and the person who was going to do the fortune-telling was Seolhwa. It was the first time we met, and there was no information exchanged between us."

Recalling the moment during the fortune-telling when a mother was possessed and called her daughter's name, Kim Jae-hee said, "I froze, thinking, 'What is this?'" He added, "I was out of my mind, and it feels like I was possessed; I don't even remember the situation well," and "I don't clearly remember what actions I took or what I said in that situation."

Through the broadcast, Kim Jae-hee stated, "I want to properly conclude the situations I am currently facing and steadily continue the activities I have not been able to do so far." He emphasized, "I will devote my soul to the Life Respect Concert and the campaign to lower the Earth's temperature, which I have been doing for over 10 years." He also apologized to the victims and vowed, "I will run again."

"Fate War 49," the program in which Kim Jae-hee appeared in the final episode featuring his story, aired despite the production team being aware of his current situation. Kim Jae-hee said through the broadcast that he had an opportunity to reflect once again on the situation he is facing.
