
'The King of Singers 3' concluded its grand finale by crowning Hong Ji-yoon as the 3rd 'King of Singers.' The final episode of MBN's 'The King of Singers 3,' aired on the 10th, recorded a peak rating of 12.4% per minute and a nationwide rating of 11.7%. Throughout its six-week run, the program consistently ranked first in viewership ratings across all Tuesday broadcasts on terrestrial, general programming, and cable channels, establishing itself as a representative survival entertainment show in South Korea.
In the finale, the TOP 9 finalists competed in the mission titled 'Songs of Active Singers' for the last battle to become the 3rd King of Singers. The finalists included Hong Ji-yoon, Cha Ji-yeon, Goo Soo-kyung, Solji, Kim Tae-yeon, Kang Hye-yeon, Lee Soo-yeon, Hong Ja, and Geum Jan-di. Each delivered an emotional performance of their life songs in front of their beloved families.
Geum Jan-di chose "Daejeon Blues," saying, "This was the first song of my life." She received the highest score of 90 and the lowest of 30 from the celebrity judging panel, reflecting the intense competition in the finals. Hong Ja performed "You Are Beautiful" despite struggling with vocal nodules and the flu, delivering a heartfelt stage and earning a highest score of 93 and a lowest of 30, leaving some regret.
Lee Soo-yeon expressed her love for her grandmother through "Yakson," shedding tears. She received a highest score of 100 and a lowest of 55, earning high praise from Joo Hyun-mi. Kang Hye-yeon selected "Dream" and ranked first in the national support vote, receiving a highest score of 100 and a lowest of 50. Kim Tae-yeon sang "Eome" to convey her love for her family, also scoring a highest of 100 and a lowest of 50.
Solji chose "Irreversible Time," shedding tears thinking of her parents. She received a highest score of 100 and a lowest of 65, rising to first place. Goo Soo-kyung performed "The Winding Road," recalling her days of obscurity and showcasing explosive vocal power, earning a highest score of 100 and a lowest of 55. Cha Ji-yeon selected "Spring Days Are Gone," demonstrating the charm of traditional trot, with a highest score of 100 and a lowest of 65.
Hong Ji-yoon chose "My Crying Mother," expressing love for her grandmother on stage. She received a highest score of 100 and a lowest of 65, tying for first place with Cha Ji-yeon and Solji. The final results were determined by combining scores from the first and second rounds of the finals, national support votes, new song digital scores, and real-time text voting.
Ultimately, Hong Ji-yoon was selected as the 3rd 'King of Singers' with a total score of 3,727 points, receiving 196,188 votes in the real-time text voting. Cha Ji-yeon and Lee Soo-yeon placed second and third, respectively, followed by Goo Soo-kyung, Kang Hye-yeon, Kim Tae-yeon, and Solji.
Hong Ji-yoon expressed her gratitude, saying, "I sincerely thank everyone who watched. Receiving this honor is not by my strength alone." She added, "I will continue to work hard to become an outstanding musician."
