DK, a member of the group SEVENTEEN, touched the hearts of fans by confessing his special connection with singer Yoon Do-hyun, which served as a major turning point in his life.
In a video released on the YouTube channel "Yoon Do-hyun's Guitar etc." on the 4th, DK appeared as a guest and shared a sincere conversation with his role model, Yoon Do-hyun. On this day, DK drew attention by revealing that Yoon Do-hyun was the decisive reason he began dreaming of becoming a singer.
DK recalled developing his dream after watching Yoon Do-hyun's performance on MBC's "I Am a Singer" when he was in his second year of middle school. He shared, "Back then, the energy radiating from senior Yoon Do-hyun's 'I Always to You' and 'Turn on the Radio' stages was so cool. It made me think for the first time that I wanted to shine on stage like that person."
In particular, DK added that he had absolutely no interest in music until he encountered Yoon Do-hyun. He brought laughter to the set with a playful yet sincere joke, saying, "My original dream was to be a 'BBQ restaurant owner' because I wanted to eat meat as much as I wanted. If senior Yoon Do-hyun hadn't appeared, I would probably be running a BBQ restaurant right now."
Celebrating his 11th year since debut, DK also opened up about the struggles hidden behind the glamour of stardom. He shared that whenever he felt pushed to his limits and went through painful times, he would find courage and shed tears while listening to Yoon Do-hyun's song "Blue Whale." DK expressed his hope to collaborate with Yoon Do-hyun on a hope-filled band-style song in the future, saying, "I want to return the comfort I received from your songs to the fans through my own voice."
Yoon Do-hyun responded to DK's confession with warm encouragement. Having personally watched DK’s musical "Xcalibure," Yoon Do-hyun praised him, saying, "DK's lyrical delivery is unrivaled among singers." He even strongly recommended DK for the musical "Hedwig" as a project that would allow him to grow further as an artist, creating a heartwarming mentor-mentee atmosphere.
CARATs (the fandom name) reacted with enthusiasm, commenting, "The story of DK growing his dream by watching Yoon Do-hyun is touching every time I hear it," "Thank you for being SEVENTEEN’s main vocalist instead of a BBQ restaurant owner," and "If they release a duet, I'll have to do a 'try not to cry' challenge."
