The group SeeYa has announced their reunion to celebrate their 20th debut anniversary. On the 12th, SeeYa revealed plans to release a full-length album in May along with the reunion announcement on the 20th anniversary day. SeeYa members Nam Gyuri, Kim Yeonji, and Lee Boram stated, "In this meaningful year marking SeeYa's 20th anniversary, we have come together again with one heart for our fans." They added, "After long discussions, we decided to repay the fans who have waited for 20 years."
SeeYa emphasized, "This reunion is not just a nostalgic recall but a new beginning as artists." They said, "Now, instead of relying on past success formulas or others' decisions, we want to present music that SeeYa truly wants to make." They continued, "When we were in our twenties, we sang as if studying, but now we want to share real stories we have experienced and felt, delivering our genuine music," hinting at their matured vocals and deepened emotions.
Currently, SeeYa members belong to different agencies, but they have established a project corporation under the name 'SeeYa' for group activities. Through this, they plan to continue their independent musical endeavors.
The pre-release song, scheduled to be unveiled within March, is a SeeYa-style emotional ballad that reflects 20 years of time and the meaning of reunion, with the members directly participating in the songwriting. This song will greet fans' long wait with love and open the prologue to a new chapter. On the release day, a fan meeting will be held at 'Idles' located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where they will meet fans who have waited for 15 years.
Producers who worked with SeeYa during their prime, such as Park Geuntae and Kim Dohun, will participate in the full-length album to be released in May. This album plans to embody SeeYa's signature music and will include various songs, some of which the members have directly contributed lyrics to.
Since their debut in March 2006, SeeYa has received great love by releasing several hit songs such as "The Scent of a Woman," "Love's Greeting," "Shoes," and "Crazy Love Song." In their debut year, they won rookie awards at major award ceremonies including the Seoul Music Awards, SBS Gayo Daejeon, and MKMF (now MAMA AWARDS). In 2007, they solidified their position as a top female vocal group by winning the Digital Music Award at the Golden Disc Awards.
After announcing their disbandment in 2011, many fans have hoped for their reunion. Their full group appearance on JTBC's "Sugar Man 3" in 2020 raised expectations for a reunion, but it fell through due to various circumstances, leaving fans disappointed.
Now, with the official reunion realized after 20 years, SeeYa is attracting much attention with their new music and stories. SeeYa's 20th anniversary pre-release song will be available on various music platforms within March.
