Actress Park Shin-hye donated 100 million won to single-parent families. The international relief and development NGO Hope Friends World Vision announced that Park Shin-hye contributed this donation as part of the "Starlight Angel Project," which she has been carrying out with global fans since 2012.
This donation was prompted by Park Shin-hye's role as Hong Geum-bo in the tvN drama "Undercover Miss Hong," which ended on March 8, through which she empathized with the lives and difficulties of single-parent families. Park Shin-hye's side stated, "Facing the realities of Misook and Bomi in dormitory room 301 in the drama, we wanted to provide help and warmth to single-parent families who experience similar worries and hardships."
World Vision plans to provide practical support such as livelihood and childcare assistance to single-parent families facing economic and emotional difficulties through this donation. In particular, they aim to reduce the burden on single-parent families who must simultaneously take responsibility for both childcare and livelihood, and to support children in growing up in a stable environment.
Choi Chang-nam, chairman of Hope Friends World Vision, said, "Single-parent families often have to bear not only economic difficulties but also the burden of care and parenting alone. We hope that Ambassador Park Shin-hye's warm sharing will provide practical help to families in need and serve as an opportunity for our society to pay more attention to single-parent families."
Park Shin-hye first connected with World Vision in 2011 and has been active as an ambassador, leading support for marginalized groups both domestically and internationally. The "Starlight Angel Project," which began in 2012, is a charitable initiative created together by Park Shin-hye, her fan club Starlight Angel, her agency Salt Entertainment, World Vision, and fans worldwide to help children living in difficult environments.
As part of this project, Park Shin-hye, along with World Vision, built multipurpose education centers called "Shin-hye Centers" in Ghana, Africa, and Manila, Philippines, in 2012 and 2016 to support the healthy growth of local children. Additionally, in 2020, she supported the renovation of community child centers to provide children with comfortable learning spaces. In 2025, she also provided heating cost support for vulnerable groups during the winter.
Park Shin-hye's donation is expected to contribute to raising social awareness about single-parent families. World Vision plans to provide practical assistance to solve various problems faced by single-parent families through this donation. The funds will be used for livelihood and childcare support, focusing on establishing a stable living foundation for single-parent families.
In addition to her acting career, Park Shin-hye has continuously engaged in donations and volunteer activities to fulfill her social responsibilities, and this donation was also carried out as part of those efforts.
