Actor Kim Sung-jung played the role of Deputy Manager Jo Gyu-jung in the tvN Wednesday-Thursday drama "I'll Give You the Universe," serving as a standout scene-stealer until the final episode. In the finale aired on the 12th, he perfectly portrayed a spicy yet endearing supporting character, enhancing the drama's immersion.
Kim Sung-jung brought a sense of realism to the role of an actual office worker with his sly acting. Throughout the series, he conveyed a cheerful energy by activating his "busybody radar," eavesdropping on every move of his colleagues. In the final episode, despite it being a half-day off, Jo Gyu-jung teased Woo Hyun-jin (played by No Jeong-ui) who came to work early, saying, "Wasn't today your half-day off? There's still plenty of time left, so why did you come so early?" Then, to the apologetic Woo Hyun-jin, he said, "Why are you sorry for taking your half-day? You're just a bit inflexible," revealing a colleague who seems prickly on the outside but is warm-hearted inside.
In the latter part of the drama, Kim Sung-jung also appeared at Woo-joo's two-year-old birthday party, making his presence felt. Amid the chaotic party scene, he naturally blended with the characters and wished for the happiness of Sun Tae-hyung (played by Bae In-hyuk), Woo Hyun-jin, and Woo-joo (played by Park Yoo-ho).
In "I'll Give You the Universe," Kim Sung-jung multidimensionally expressed Deputy Manager Jo Gyu-jung's human charm as a self-proclaimed "voluntary solo" and his role as an information hub. His timely appearances in each episode enriched the drama and left a strong impression on viewers.
Kim Sung-jung debuted in 2021 with the musical "Hadestown." He later appeared as part of Geum Seong-je's (played by Lee Jun-young) gang in the Netflix series "Weak Hero Class 2." Following that, he made a mark through the tvN drama "The Cowherd and the Fairy," continuing his rising career as a promising newcomer.
