Girl group ILLIT will make a comeback on April 30 with their new album 'MAMIHLAPINATAPAI'. The title track has been confirmed as 'It's Me'. ILLIT's agency Believe Lab announced this on the 16th.
ILLIT successfully concluded their first tour, 'ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥' in SEOUL' (hereafter 'PRESS START'), at Ticketlink Live Arena in Songpa-gu, Seoul, from the 14th to the 15th. On the last day of the concert, ILLIT shared their comeback news with fans, drawing enthusiastic cheers.
The new album title 'MAMIHLAPINATAPAI' originates from the language of the South American Yaghan people and is listed in the Guinness World Records as 'the word with the longest meaning and the most difficult to translate.' The word refers to 'a subtle, urgent exchange of glances between two people who both desire the other to voluntarily do something that is necessary but neither wants to do themselves.' Expectations are rising about the kind of music and concept ILLIT's new release will embody.
During the Seoul concert, ILLIT showcased a solid musical world by performing all tracks from their mini albums 1 to 3 and their latest single album over approximately 120 minutes. The concert was structured like progressing through game levels, enhanced by kitschy pixel art visuals that emphasized their unique sensibility and aesthetics.
The tour schedule continues after Seoul with shows in Aichi on June 13-14, Osaka on June 20-21, Fukuoka on June 29-30, Hyogo on July 18-19, Tokyo on July 23 and July 25-26, and Hong Kong on August 22. ILLIT plans to present diverse stages throughout this tour.
At the Seoul concert, members performed mission songs from the audition program 'R U Next?': 'Desperate' by Yoona, Minju, and Iroha, and 'Scrum' as a unit stage by Moka and Wonhee, reaffirming their broad musical spectrum. They also premiered the performance of 'NOT ME' from their first single album, showcasing a hip charm, and left a strong impression by repeating 'oops!' endlessly as the encore.
In the latter part of the concert, ILLIT descended into the audience during the 'oops!' stage, singing passionately for about 10 minutes while closely interacting with fans. The members expressed, "Thanks to GLLIT (our fandom), we were able to press our start button well. With our 2nd debut anniversary approaching, 'PRESS START' has become a moment that motivates us to work even harder." They added, "We were happy to share a stage where GLLIT and ILLIT became one. We will strive to be artists you can be proud of."
All shows of ILLIT's 'PRESS START' concert sold out on the day of pre-sale, with additional restricted view seats opened over the two days, reflecting the fans' passionate enthusiasm. They plan to communicate with more fans through their future activities.
