BTS makes a full group comeback after 3 years and 9 months... First solo K-pop concert in Gwanghwamun

Foreign tourists are taking commemorative photos with promotional materials announcing the comeback of BTS on the stairs of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Jongno-gu, Seoul. BTS is returning as a complete group after 3 years and 9 months. To celebrate BTS's comeback, the Seoul Metropolitan Government planned red lighting at famous spots in Seoul such as Sebitseom and Namsan Seoul Tower. The symbolic color of BTS is purple. However, the red lighting by the Seoul city government was politically interpreted as it was associated with the opposition party's symbolic color.

HYBE stated that the red color used for the Gwanghwamun Square performance reflects the core color of the 'Arirang' album. Seoul city is also using red lighting at HYBE's request. HYBE asked that pop culture events not be interpreted from a political perspective.

Ahead of BTS's full-group comeback after 3 years and 9 months, they will hold the first-ever solo K-pop concert at Gwanghwamun. Various locations in Seoul are being decorated in purple. The Korea Tourism Promotion Center's Hiker Ground has been transformed into a purple-themed space with the slogan "Hiker also loves purple." Restaurants near Gwanghwamun Square are decorated with purple items, and Lotte Department Store will illuminate the exterior walls of its main store and luxury hall in purple lighting for four days starting from the 19th.

Kyobo Life Insurance collaborated with Big Hit Music to install a giant wrapping at the Gwanghwamun intersection. The wrapping features phrases such as "Until the story that started from me moves the whole world" and "Born in Korea, Play for the World." Fans have made it a place to wear purple items and take commemorative photos.

The purple color of BTS originated from an event prepared by their fans, ARMY. In November 2016, at a fan meeting, fans covered the official light sticks with purple vinyl. At that time, the light sticks only emitted white light, but fans' surprise gift changed them to purple. V explained the meaning of purple, saying, "Purple means to trust each other and love each other for a long time." Later, the meaning of "I love you" was added to purple, creating the new word "Borahae."

The relationship between BTS and ARMY deepened through the color purple. BTS is known as a team that deeply loves their fans. RM said, "If success is 100%, 50% is ARMY, and the rest is the members and HYBE." Fans share a special feeling by wearing purple clothes or accessories when watching performances.

BTS's popularity has spread worldwide, and in the past, the Empire State Building in the U.S. and downtown Las Vegas were illuminated in purple. After the Gwanghwamun Square performance in Seoul, the world tour will take place in 34 cities with 82 shows. BTS's comeback is attracting great attention not only in Korea but also among fans worldwide.
