Ju Ji-hoon has been making a remarkable presence from the beginning in ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama "Climax," driving the drama's buzz and increasing viewership ratings. Ju Ji-hoon plays the role of Bang Tae-seop, a Doberman from Seoam District Prosecutor's Office who comes from a humble background. Bang Tae-seop is an ambitious character who aims for the top by marrying the top actress Choo Sang-ah (played by Ha Ji-won) and entering the center of power.
In episodes 1 and 2 aired this week, Bang Tae-seop's past and present were rapidly unfolded. Ju Ji-hoon convincingly portrayed the journey of a character who started with nothing and established himself as a star prosecutor in a short time. He skillfully handled the rarely seen 'gamoo' scene from previous works, perfectly recreating the character's intense desire for power. Even amidst his ambition to reach the top, the deep romance revealed in his gaze toward his wife Sang-ah added depth to the character.
The shocking ending of episode 1, which heated up online with Ju Ji-hoon's whistling, raised expectations for the following developments. In episode 2, as Tae-seop stands at a crossroads between his ambition and protecting his wife Sang-ah, conflicts with Kwon Jong-wook (played by Oh Jung-se) and Lee Yang-mi (played by Cha Ju-young) began in earnest. Ju Ji-hoon captured the character's emotions that change moment by moment within the power structure through subtle changes in his eyes and facial expressions, drawing viewers' attention.
"Climax" was a highly anticipated work as Ju Ji-hoon's next project even before its broadcast. Following casting news for works like "Severe Trauma Center" and "Remarriage & Desires," "Climax" was the first completed work to be revealed. Before airing, it ranked 6th in the TV drama category in the second week of March's buzz survey conducted by Good Data Corporation's Fundex.
The upward trend continued after the broadcast. Episode 1 recorded a nationwide paid household viewership rating of 2.9% (provided by Nielsen Korea), the second-highest rating for a first broadcast in ENA drama history, and episode 2 rose to 3.8%. Additionally, it topped the "Today's Korea TOP 10 Series" on Disney+ immediately after release, proving the drama's popularity.
ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama "Climax" airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM on ENA and is also available on KT Genie TV and Disney+. Ju Ji-hoon's acting skills and the drama's intriguing development are attracting viewers' interest.
