Singer Hwanhee appeared on KBS 2TV variety show "Men Who Do Housework Season 2" and opened up about his family life and relationship with his mother. In the episode aired on the 21st, Hwanhee revealed for the first time that he was born as a premature baby weighing 1.5 kg and was in a life-threatening condition at birth.

Hwanhee's mother recalled the urgent situation at the time of his birth, saying, "He was very sick when he was young. I almost lost him." She explained that Hwanhee was born a month early and could barely open his eyes at the time. She added that the hospital had told her to give up on him. Hwanhee was visibly surprised by his mother's confession.

During the broadcast, Hwanhee mentioned the lack of conversations with his mother, saying, "I didn't talk much with my mom. She hasn't been very talkative since long ago." He also expressed regret about not having family trips or photos together. However, in an interview video of his mother shown during the program, she was seen actively talking with the production staff. Hwanhee said, "I had no idea," showing his embarrassment.

Hwanhee's mother surprised viewers by revealing that she does not eat with her son because he has a weak stomach. She continued, "There are no photos of just the two of us. I was too embarrassed to say it, but I've never even been to Jeju Island." She also confessed, "My sons don't know how I've lived. I did everything for them even if I had to go into debt. I got tired of living such a hard life."

After hearing his mother's story, Hwanhee teared up and said, "Anyone would say I'm an unfilial son. It seemed like she was venting. I think she was finally able to say what she wanted to tell me. It's the first time I've seen her speak so well." He felt how much his mother had wanted to share her feelings all along.

Hwanhee also recalled memories of his childhood during the show. His mother said that when he had indigestion from drinking milk, she gave him water boiled with straw, which made him pass gas. She revealed that she felt as if her son's illness was her fault. She said, "I felt ashamed because I thought I was incompetent. Isn't it embarrassing to be incompetent in front of your child?" expressing her sorrow.
