Chungju city official Choi Ji-ho confesses subscriber battle with Kim Sun-tae on 'Knowing Bros'

Chungju Man's successor, Choi Ji-ho, shared stories about Kim Sun-tae. On the March 21 broadcast of JTBC's "Knowing Bros," a special episode featuring local promotional public officials was held. On that day, Chungju city official Choi Ji-ho, when asked about his impressions of appearing on "Knowing Bros," said, "I came here once last year. Chungju Man had been here before. It actually feels like my second time coming." He added, "I never even dreamed I could come here. My family was amazed and asked, 'Why are you here?'"

When asked if he had ever received advice from Kim Sun-tae, Choi revealed Kim's jealousy, saying, "I bragged to my team leader that I was going on 'Knowing Bros,' and he said, 'I was called late, so why are you going so early?'" The broadcast also featured Yangju city official Jung Gyeo-woon, Ulsan Nam-gu official Lee So-hee, and Gunsan city official Park Ji-soo.

Choi mentioned that Kim Sun-tae had served as the head of the New Media Team during his tenure as a public official, managing Chungju city's channel and social media accounts. Kim established himself as a public official influencer with nearly one million subscribers through his clever videos. He also appeared on various entertainment programs such as MBC's "The Manager."

Kim Sun-tae submitted his resignation to Chungju city on February 13. Subsequently, on March 3, he launched a new personal channel named "Kim Sun-tae," which surpassed the subscriber count of the "Chungju City" channel within two days. He reached one million subscribers in just three days.

Choi expressed the burden he felt taking over the Chungju city channel from Kim Sun-tae, saying, "I feel like I inherited a crown from Kim Sun-tae, but that crown is very heavy." He also mentioned the 220,000 subscriber drop following Kim's resignation, stating, "It wasn't just a small decrease; it was like losing the entire population of Chungju."

He said, "I couldn't watch the channel we built together collapse," and added, "At that time, the YouTube algorithm showed me the 'Chuno' video. It felt like me, so I dressed up alone and made a parody video. I got choked up while filming, but I was relieved that the response was good." Choi noted that after uploading the "Chuno" video, the subscriber count stabilized, saying, "The drop stopped at 750,000. Fortunately, about 30,000 more subscribers were added."

Choi shared the pressure and determination he feels running the Chungju city channel, following Kim Sun-tae's popularity. He said, "I feel a sense of responsibility, thinking that I have to follow the footsteps Kim Sun-tae left behind." Although no specific plans for the channel's future operation were revealed, Choi emphasized that he will do his best to continue the achievements Kim Sun-tae built.

This broadcast served as an opportunity to highlight the sincere story of Chungju Man's successor, Choi Ji-ho, and to revisit Kim Sun-tae's influence. Choi also announced plans to continue producing various content to promote Chungju city.
