
Lim Chang-jung revealed that his debut as a singer was due to his connection with actor Lee Byung-hun. On the 22nd, Lim Chang-jung appeared on TV Chosun's "Sikgaek Heo Young-man's Baekban Journey" and recalled leaving a strong impression as Jung Woo-sung's friend in the 1997 film "Beat." He said he looked young at the time and that Jung Woo-sung and other actors treated him warmly.
Heo Young-man asked Lim Chang-jung if it was difficult to work as both an actor and a singer. Lim Chang-jung explained, "I was born restless. Being an entertainer was my dream," and said he wanted to work in various fields such as comedian, singer, and theater actor. Heo Young-man admired Lim Chang-jung's energy and added that lazy people cannot keep up physically even if they are curious.
Lim Chang-jung revealed that after his acting career was interrupted, he went to see Lee Byung-hun. He mentioned, "Work suddenly stopped coming in, and I had nowhere else to go," referring to his friendship with Lee Byung-hun. Through a call from Lee Byung-hun, he was connected to former PD Eom Ki-baek and was instructed to go to a musical rehearsal room. After singing in the rehearsal room, Lim Chang-jung was cast as a musical actor.
He said that thanks to a record producer attending the musical performance, he was able to debut as a singer in 1995. Lim Chang-jung said, "The public's initial reaction was not good," and shared that one day he felt overwhelmed hearing his song "Already to Me" playing in Daehangno. This song later entered the top 10 on the Billboard chart, helping to establish his career.
Lim Chang-jung has continued to work as a singer for over 30 years and is loved for hit songs like "A Glass of Soju." His story well illustrates the importance of challenges and connections in the entertainment industry.
