Chef Lee Dong-jun "Appeared on broadcast for my son... shed tears over malicious comments"

French Papa Chef Lee Dong-jun opened up about the difficulties he faced after appearing on a broadcast. On the 23rd, on KBS Joy's variety show "Ask Anything," Chef Lee Dong-jun shared his experience of appearing on "Black and White Chef 2." He mentioned that he openly shed tears during the broadcast and revealed that, contrary to his usual bright image, he received many malicious comments.

Chef Lee Dong-jun said, "I was attacked for exploiting my story," and expressed his concerns about conveying his story calmly. He emphasized that there are three "tear buttons," one of which is his son. Lee explained, "When my child was two years old, he was diagnosed with autism spectrum developmental disorder," adding, "He still has delayed language development and struggles with even simple expressions." He added that his son, born in 2013, is almost unable to express himself verbally.

Chef Lee Dong-jun said that his self-esteem as a chef declined while he was in the U.S. for his son's treatment. He stated, "During that time, I was contacted by 'Black and White Chef,' and I wanted to show my son that 'Dad is a chef,' so I decided to appear on the show." He shared that although his son struggles with social skills and sensory difficulties, both areas have improved significantly after treatment.

Lee Soo-geun asked about the effectiveness of the treatment for Lee Dong-jun's son. Lee Dong-jun replied, "His social skills and sensory issues have improved a lot." Lee Soo-geun congratulated him, saying, "It's great that the time you invested has brought rewarding results."

Lee Dong-jun mentioned another tear button, referring to his wife and parents, saying, "I'm sorry and grateful." He updated, "I returned two years ago, but there weren't many schools where my child could take English classes. Currently, we are living in Bangkok, where special education is well provided."

Seo Jang-hoon, after hearing Lee Dong-jun's story, advised, "There's no reason for a reasonable person to criticize Dong-jun. Those who criticize do so without reason. Over time, it will naturally calm down." Lee Soo-geun shared a similar experience with his own son and comforted him by saying, "You don't have to worry. There's no need to be shaken by malicious comments."

Lee Dong-jun served the "Bouillabaisse" he prepared himself to the counselors on the program. After tasting the dish, Lee Soo-geun said, "It tastes a bit like jjambbong broth," and Seo Jang-hoon described it as "a mild seafood soup flavor that is not unfamiliar to Koreans."

"Ask Anything" was broadcast on the 23rd at 8 p.m. Chef Lee Dong-jun's story covered various topics, including his relationship with his family, understanding his child's disability, and the difficulties he faced after appearing on the show.
