Broadcaster Takuya visited Japan to meet his biological father for the first time in 25 years.
Takuya, who appeared on KBS 2TV's "Men Who Do Housework Season 2," asked the production team for help in finding the father he was separated from during childhood. After hearing stories about his father from his mother, he began his search with limited information such as his father's name, hometown, a photo from his youth, and age.
Takuya first headed to Hokkaido, his father's hometown, and visited a government office to obtain a family register copy. Upon reviewing the documents, he found that his father's current address was recorded as Tokyo and learned that the address had changed several times. Takuya traveled to Tokyo and went to the listed address but hesitated upon discovering that the building was a dormitory rather than a regular residence. He speculated that it might be a dormitory for a newspaper delivery company near the building.
On site, Takuya asked someone inside the building about his father's name and was told that his father was there. Returning to the production team, he said, "When I said I was his son, they said my biological father often talked about having a son." While contemplating whether to meet his father, the father himself came down from the building, and they faced each other for the first time in 25 years. The father recognized his son, sat down, and wept, saying, "I'm sorry," and "I never thought a day like this would come."
Takuya's journey involved traveling by plane and train, and as he got closer to his destination, he expressed mixed feelings, saying, "What if he doesn't recognize me?" Surprised by the unexpected environment, he also confided, "I think not meeting might have been a better choice, as it has been until now."
The episode of "Men Who Do Housework Season 2" featuring Takuya aired that night at 9:20 PM.
