DK and Seungkwan, returning as a vocal unit of the group SEVENTEEN, touched the hearts of fans by candidly confessing the weight and psychological pressure that come with being an idol.
In a video released on the 27th, Seungkwan spoke about the life of an idol who debuted at a young age and has been running without rest. He remarked, "It seems that many friends living as idols are not as healthy as one might think," adding, "It is truly difficult to maintain one's mental health in a 'factory-like life' where everything moves according to a fixed schedule." His honest confession—"With concerts and activities packed throughout the year, there were times when I suddenly wondered, 'Do I have to live like this forever?'"—offered a glimpse into the solitude behind the glamorous stage.
Seungkwan also mentioned the constraints that come with being in the public eye. He shared, "Since I am always in a position to receive love as someone's idol, there are difficulties in expressing things cautiously, even when singing about love, to avoid potential issues."
Fans responded with comments like, "It was a great interview that deeply explored the hardships of idols," and "I feel comforted by the sincere side of Seungkwan and DK."
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN's DK and Seungkwan recently showcased their unparalleled vocal skills and emotions through their album Serenade (小夜曲), which highlights the strengths of the vocal unit. They are set to meet global fans through SEVENTEEN's solo concert coming up this April.
