BTS has made a remarkable impact on the global music market by simultaneously topping the U.S. Billboard main charts, 'Billboard 200' and 'Hot 100.'
The U.S. music media Billboard announced on its official website that the title track "SWIM" from BTS's fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" ranked number one on the "Hot 100" chart dated April 4. With this, BTS now holds their seventh number one song on the "Hot 100," following "Dynamite," "Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat) (BTS Remix)," "Life Goes On," "Butter," "Permission to Dance," and "My Universe (Coldplay X BTS)." Billboard stated, "They set the record for the most number one songs by a group in nearly half a century since the Bee Gees, who had nine number one hits from 1971 to 1979."
Since the start of the "Hot 100" chart in August 1958, BTS has become the fifth group with the most number one songs. The record for the most number one songs by a group is held by The Beatles (20 songs), followed by the Supremes (12 songs), the Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones (8 songs), and then BTS.
"SWIM," released on the 20th, recorded 15.3 million streams, 25.8 million radio audience impressions, and 154,000 digital and physical single sales by the 26th. It ranked second on Billboard's "Streaming Songs" chart, 18th on the "Radio Songs" chart, and first on the "Digital Song Sales" chart. This made BTS the group with their 13th number one song on these charts.
"ARIRANG" was confirmed to have reached number one on the "Billboard 200" chart dated April 4, according to Billboard's chart preview article released on the 30th. During this tracking period, the album achieved 641,000 album units, 532,000 physical album sales, and 95,000 SEA (streaming equivalent albums), setting new personal bests. Vinyl sales also marked the highest ever for the group.
On the UK Official Charts, "ARIRANG" ranked number one on the album chart, and "SWIM" reached number two on the singles chart. On Spotify's "Daily Top Songs Global," it held the number one spot for nine consecutive days, with 82.26 million weekly streams, setting the highest record for 2026. The album and single also topped charts in major countries such as France, Australia, and Germany.
Through their agency Big Hit Music, BTS expressed, "After a long wait of three years and nine months, we have released this album and received the great honor of being number one on Billboard. We deeply thank ARMY, who have always given us unconditional love and support, as well as everyone who has listened to our music and shared their hearts with us." They continued, "While preparing this new album, we thought hard about including universal emotions that many people can relate to. The title track 'SWIM' represents this, encouraging us to keep moving forward despite difficulties. We hope this song has become a small source of courage and comfort to many beyond borders. We are grateful for the unwavering faith and support over a long time, and we will continue to repay it with sincere music."
"ARIRANG" was entirely produced by Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, and RM participated extensively in writing the lyrics for the title track "SWIM." BTS plans to embark on their world tour "BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG," starting on April 9 at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium, covering 82 shows in 34 cities.
