The intense contemplation and candid conversations between BTS members during the preparation of their new song, 'SWIM,' have been revealed and are generating buzz.
In the video "Title Track SWIM First Reaction | BTS: The Return," recently released on Netflix Korea’s official YouTube channel, BTS members are seen gathered together listening to the recorded version of their new song for the first time.
In the video, the members focused on the melody of 'SWIM' flowing from the speakers with somewhat tense expressions.
After the song ended, j-hope expressed honest apprehension regarding the song's atmosphere—which is distinctly different from the pop style BTS has shown before—stating, "I find myself hesitating a bit when playing it for my acquaintances". SUGA, on the other hand, voiced his opinion that he liked this direction.
The conversation naturally flowed toward their past record-breaking hit, 'Dynamite'. When SUGA asked, "Was it like this for us during 'Dynamite' too?", the members recalled that the reaction wasn't great back then either. They followed up with a surprising behind-the-scenes revelation: "To be honest, more than half of us didn't want to do 'Dynamite'".
However, the members soon regained confidence in the new challenge, saying, "Coming out with this kind of style seems like it would actually be cooler," showing their side as artists who do not fear change.
RM analyzed the song, saying, "It’s definitely a song of change; by relaxing the tension, it feels more mature and flavorful". He added, "I think we need to exude a bit of an 'adult' vibe," clearly defining the direction of the new song, which contains deeper sensibilities and maturity.
Fans who watched the video showed explosive reactions, saying, "As expected, their candid exchange of opinions is professional," "The behind-the-scenes story of 'Dynamite' is truly shocking," and "I'm so excited for that relaxed, mature sexiness".
The documentary 'BTS: The Return,' which captures BTS's sincere comeback process, is currently streaming on Netflix.
