Broadcaster Kim Gura directly mentioned the debt issues that led to his divorce from his ex-wife on TV Chosun's variety show "X's Private Life." In the episode aired on the 31st, the marriage and divorce story of Jin Hyun-geun and Gil Yeon-ju, a couple who appeared as the "fighting couple" on JTBC's "Divorce Consideration Camp," was revealed.

In a pre-interview, Gil Yeon-ju stated that after becoming pregnant before marriage, her ex-husband proposed, but the in-laws refused to hold a formal meeting, so they did not have a wedding ceremony and only took wedding photos. She said that during the final month of her pregnancy, she signed a lease for a two-room monthly rental using her own deposit, and that her ex-husband was facing financial difficulties. Afterwards, she began receiving debt collection notices for unknown debts, which initially were 3 million won but increased to 10 million won within a month and later grew to 50 million won.

Gil Yeon-ju explained that financial problems existed from the beginning of the marriage, and conflicts started as debt collection notices for her ex-husband's debts kept arriving. She also said that trust between the couple broke down over the issue of debt repayment. Jin Hyun-geun, who worked at an insurance securities company and received commissions, said that when insurance policies were canceled, the refund amounts became debts he owed, so he did not know the exact scale of the debt.

Kim Gura sympathized with their story and shared his own experience. He said, "I actually divorced because of similar issues. The amount is widely known to be 1.7 billion won, but it started at about 1 billion won. Then it gradually increased." He added, "The important thing is that sometimes people don't talk about this accurately. Lies keep leading to more lies," emphasizing the importance of being honest. He also raised his voice, saying, "How many times did you lie, from 3 million won to 50 million won?"

Meanwhile, it is known that Kim Gura remarried in 2020 to a wife 12 years younger after divorcing in 2015 and has a late-born daughter.
